FAMILY SPOTLIGHT

St. Francis Xavier School is proud to share parent art work featured by Red Dot Gallery and recently on display.  Please read the beautiful story featured below.

Red Dot oil painting student, Marina Caycedo (David Gr 4) recently finished this large painting. She is from Uzbekistan, and started taking classes about 6 months ago. Her talent and skill is remarkable, considering she's never taken a painting class before. This painting held a special place in her heart and inspired me and the rest of her classmates. She lost her daughter Camilla, above, 10 months before starting this painting, when she was 14 months old. She came to Red Dot to take a class to help her with her grief. It was obvious that the process of this finished piece was healing for her in many ways, and it touched all of us who watched her work on it with great care. I am always humbled and honored to get to share in the personal, creative journey of all my students.
