Dear SFX School family,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from St. Francis Xavier School!  We were so excited to greet our students this morning.  The students at SFX warm our building with their smiles, enthusiasm for learning, and their tender hearts of faith.  Our faculty is focused on setting a strong course for learning this semester.  We are also thinking about how we can continue to face Mercy as we contemplate the perfect Mercy found in Jesus Christ, and plan how we can be that Mercy to others.

OUR 4TH GRADERS BROUGHT CHRISTMAS JOY TO THE RESIDENTS OF FAIR HAVEN DURING ADVENT.  THEY SHARED SONGS, SMALL GIFTS, AND MANY SMILES!
EACH OF OUR CLASSROOMS HAS A "CHRIST CANDLE OF HOPE" THAT SYMBOLIZES THE HOPE THAT JESUS BROUGHT AT HIS BIRTH.  WE WILL PRAY BISHOP BAKER'S "CHRISTMAS PRAYER" EACH DAY THIS WEEK
A Christmas Prayer
 
God, our loving Father, You sent your Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to conquer all the forces of evil.
 
Help us to join with you in bringing your light into this world, the light that is your Son, born of the Virgin Mary, in Bethlehem.
 
Help us to be instruments of your light and love by doing one special act of kindness each day this Christmas season.
 
May the Christ Candle we light symbolize our desire to bring light into a world of darkness and hope into a world of despair. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

HOME AND SCHOOL NEWS
Tickets go on sale Monday, January 11th!  Every year we have sold out, so please make plans to purchase your tickets early.

We have "Save the date" magnets in the school office.  Pick one up, and place it somewhere so that everyone in our community can know about our great event.
 
Gala Tickets are $30 this includes admission into the Gala, food, one drink ticket and $500 of "play" money for the gaming tables.  Look for order forms next Monday!
 
Sweepstakes tickets will go on sale January 19th.  Enter for your chance to win $1500.  Sweepstakes tickets are $20 each.  The winner will be drawn at the end of the Gala and you do not have to be present to win.
 
Now is the time!

Do you have a connection to a business that could give to our Gala by way of sponsorship or donation?  Please use the letters provided in this email to engage them.  You never know until you ask!  Let's work together to make this the best Gala yet for the good of our children.

EPIPHANY CHALK BLESSING TOMORROW
Tomorrow is the actual day of Epiphany.  Father Bob will bless chalk, and it will be used to bless the doors of our school for the new year.  You can learn more about this Catholic tradition HERE.
