Valued City Residents, Merchants, Business Owners, Neighbors and Visitors:
The reason for this letter is to inform you that the City of Haines City will not be hosting its Annual Christmas Parade this year. With the reconstruction of 6th Street and the unknown completion date, we could not proactively plan for a parade that would satisfy the expectations of you, our valued residents. However, Haines City will continue to provide a holiday extravaganza second to none by re-branding our signature event, Glitter, Glisten and Snow by lighting up Lake Eva Park.
The event will kick off on December 5th with a free performance to the public starring Sisaundra Lewis from Season 6 of NBC's The Voice. During the event we will officially light up Lake Eva Park. The park will showcase over 800,000 lights, displayed beautifully along the walking paths. From nativity scenes to carolers, angels, toy soldiers, and more, Lake Eva promises to have something for everyone. The lights will be beautifully displayed throughout the holiday season during the month of December. There will also be a 31-foot Christmas tree, which will commemorate the traditional annual tree lighting ceremony.
Obviously, this is a change to what the event has been in the past, but it will undoubtedly convey the true meaning of the holiday season: family, food, fellowship and faith. It will encourage families to come together in fellowship with their neighbors and see the true beauty of the season in our gorgeous park. There will be reindeer, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Kris Kringle. There will be snow slides and other children's activities, food vendors with a variety of food options and desserts and many other holiday festivities.
After Glitter, Glisten and Snow, you can, at your leisure, stroll through Lake Eva Park on any evening during the month of December to see the beautiful lights on display. This event will be unlike any other in the region, and Haines City is extremely proud to introduce the new and improved Glitter, Glisten and Snow.
After the event, please provide us your feedback. It is our ambition not only to meet but to exceed your expectations.
Most importantly, we want to wish you happy holidays in celebrating the true meaning of the season. May you and your families have a very blessed holiday season!
Respectfully submitted,
