Dear Residents, Business Owners, Visitors and Colleagues:
At this point, you are all aware of Tropical Storm Erika's projected path, which is very likely to head towards the State of Florida. Although some of us native Floridians may be excited about the possibility of a storm heading our way, we cannot lose focus of the impact storms have caused our State and our City in the past. Tropical Storm Erika has already claimed several lives in the Dominica Islands, so we cannot underestimate the impact this storm can cause. Let us learn from these terrible tragedies and understand the importance of being prepared.
At this time, the City of Haines City is urging all residents, business owners and visitors to take the necessary precautions to keep your families safe. It is important that you remain watchful, continue tracking the storm, and plan properly. Please note that the City of Haines City, as well as other entities, are taking the necessary precautionary steps to prepare for Tropical Storm Erika. In the event that we experience effects of this storm, it is our goal to restore all services in the most expeditious fashion. However, please make sure that your family has taken the steps to purchase water, non-perishable goods, as well as fueling your motor vehicles within adequate time.
Below is a list of emergency contact numbers, as well as an information guide that I strongly encourage you to review. This document will surely assist you and your family as you prepare for the Florida 2015 Hurricane Season. Please keep those impacted by the storm, their families and the first responders that are, and will continue to put themselves in harm's way, in prayer.
The City of Haines City would like to maintain a culture of preparedness where our residents, visitors, businesses and property owners are vigilant during Hurricane Season. Please be reminded that Hurricane Season ends November 30th.
