A volunteering experience and an active lifestyle helped form Githens Center Physical Therapist Linda Pfister's calling. "I found it rewarding to help others in positive ways that involved active, physical work."
Following her dream, Linda was accepted into the physical therapy program at Temple University and later, through a clinical affiliation, became active in clinical practice with special needs children. You could say she was destined for Githens from the start.
Post graduation, Linda honed her new skills through Physical Therapy positions at Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, Moorestown Visiting Nurse Association and Burlington County Day Training Center. Then, in 1985 Linda came to Githens Center. "I was attracted to the opportunity to work with more challenging patients and with professionals I saw as energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated," said Linda.
It was a match made in heaven. Here, Linda brings all of her passions and skills together for the students, families and staff. "Helping students develop to their maximum potential and seeing their smiles is a dream come true for me," says Linda.
Collaborating with other therapists, Linda helps create an environment that fosters confidence and dignity in the students through exercise and activity. Staff members create a familiar, warm atmosphere where students thrive with the utmost care, attention and safety. It doesn't end there ... families are encouraged to emulate the same activities at home, so exercise and activity becomes a way of life.
As Linda nears her 30th anniversary with Githens Center, we reflect on how fortunate we are that she continues to be a big part of the lives and care of our students!
