Flights of Fancy

Very few have ever surveyed Big Bend's fiercely beautiful region from above--until now. Professional photographer Paul Chaplo's Marfa Flights: Aerial Views of Big Bend Country presents incredible scenes from an equally incredible perspective.

Flying from Marfa, and hanging precariously from the open door of an aircraft, Chaplo snaps hawk's eye views of landscapes carved over eons by wind and water, displaying an immense topographic tableau of strange and austere beauty. Read more.

PAUL V. CHAPLO's work has been shown in museums around the country, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, DC.

Chaplo's photo exhibit opens this September at the Museum of the Big Bend.
