Gangster Tour of Texas
By T. Lindsay Baker |
David Neel,
Sales Manager
|
As the Texas A&M University Press Sales Manager, I get to know all of our books like the back of my hand. And, while I am proud to represent each and every one of our books and our authors when I deal with outside clients, I am always ready to promote T. Lindsay Baker's Gangster Tour of Texas.
Gangster lore is exciting stuff, and Texas has a pretty involved history with the gangsters of yesteryear. This volume contains information on Bonnie and Clyde, Machine Gun Kelly, the Newton Boys, and the Santa Claus Bank Robbers (in addition to many others) as well as period photos of their hideouts or crime scenes alongside modern day photos of the same locations.
As if that's not enough, there are detailed maps of the locations so you follow along in real time. For example, so many Bonnie and Clyde activities took place right in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. One can even visit their grave sites. I did.
To sum it up in a nutshell, this book is highly informative, totally accessible, and just a great read. Plus, it just "looks" cool. This is a great book to read yourself or to give as a gift, and it remains a popular seller for these very reasons.
