New Breast Cancer Survivorship Care Guideline and Learning Module

The GW Cancer Institute recently released a new module on breast cancer survivorship for its e-learning series for primary care providers. The new module includes information on surveillance for recurrence, screening for second primary cancers, assessment and management of physical and psychosocial long-term and late effects, health promotion and care coordination. Mandi Pratt-Chapman, Director of the GW Cancer Institute, served as a co-author for a breast cancer guideline released by the American Cancer Society and American Society of Clinical Oncology.  The new guideline addresses issues that can occur in breast cancer survivors after their treatment. 2015 Supportive Care Summit

Director Mandi Pratt-Chapman recently presented at the Association of Community Cancer Centers Supportive Care Summit on the value and importance of core competencies for patient navigators. Key takeaways included the need to work together across health care professions, common electronic medical record language for data integration and a collective desire to solve the value equation for patient-centered care.
Frontiers in Medicine Event

Eduardo Sotmayor, M.D., director of the GW Cancer Center and Edward Seto, Ph.D., Associate Director for Basic Sciences at the GW Cancer Center recently spoke about the latest in emerging cancer research and immunotherapy at Frontiers in Medicine, a series designed to connect members of the Washington, D.C. community with renowned health experts. Read more about the event.
