Internship Opportunity

NSGA Accepting Applications for this Summer; Deadline April 4

National Sporting Goods Association, serving the sporting goods industry since 1929, seeks a talented team member with ability to juggle multiple assignments and priorities for a paid full-time summer internship ($12-14 per hour depending upon skill and experience). No 2 days are the same!

Provide cover letter and resume no later than 4:00 p.m. central time 4/4/14 to insure consideration.  Initial interviews (via Skype, or in person) anticipated week of 4/14/14.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Primarily provide administrative support and perform special projects for the Marketing and Communications departments. Additionally, intern may be assigned projects for the association's other departments/divisions, which include the Membership, Sales and Education departments, as well as the Team Dealer and Sales Agent Divisions, and the Hockey Dealers Association.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES IN DETAIL:

  1. Participate with website redesign team, aiding in content creation as the site redesign is finalized during Summer 2014.
  2. Provide proofreading services for NSGA's communications vehicles, including magazine, e-newsletters, research reports, news releases, social media posts, etc.
  3. Participate in planning meetings and contribute ideas for NSGA magazine content.
  4. Create a list of interesting and fun sports and sports business facts to be used for PR purposes and across NSGA social media platforms.
  5. Aid in creation of marketing plan and strategies for NSGA's All-Star Awards and College Scholarship programs.
  6. Create and edit video content for use in marketing and promoting the association, its events and its services.
  7. Work with Marketing and Communications departments to create a fully functional Management Conference marketing plan to be used for the 2015 event.
  8. Create a library of member testimonials that can be used for marketing NSGA programs and services.
  9. Utilize Photoshop to help maintain NSGA's photo library from past events.
  10. Oversee the digitizing of NSGA's archival photos and historical documents.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Unquestionable integrity, commitment to advance interests of the organization, dedication to constant improvement.
  2. Be enrolled as a full- or part-time student at a college or university.
  3. Interest in communications, journalism, marketing and other association-related activities.
  4. Have excellent writing and editing skills.
  5. Ability to take direction, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work under pressure of deadlines.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate with customers by telephone, fax, email, and personal contact, etc. (members, outside suppliers, and in-house departments, etc.).
  7. Ability to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, and social media tools including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter for the benefit of our members. 
  8. Ability to plan, follow through, and be goal oriented.
  9. Highly developed communication skills emphasizing listening and seeking first to understand, then to be understood.
  10. A great sense of humor and ability to function effectively as a part of a high performance team.
