Dear Blizzard Families & Friends,
 
Happy 2015!  This week, it's off to Powder Ridge on Saturday, January 10th OR Sunday, January 11th for all members (K-12).  
Be sure to RSVP by Thursday at 8pm to your e-invitation to attend your trip. If you do not rsvp by the deadline, you will not have a space reserved on the bus nor a confirmed lift ticket.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17:  TEAM BLIZZARD SKI COMPETITION

Ski Racers are headed to Buck Hill for the Ski Challenge. Watch for your special e-invitation to the race and more info directly from your coaches.

 

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17:  PARENT BREAKTHROUGH PROGRAM

Hey, Blizzard Parents!  Haven't skied in 20 years?  Want to learn to snowboard?  Want to just keep up with your kids on the slopes?  Our expert Blizzard instructors can teach you!  See more information below.

 

SATURDAY, JANUARY 19: MLK DAY TEEN & FAMILY TRIP 

Looking for something fun to do on your day off of school?  Hit the slopes with your friends at Blizzard and Afton Alps. Members in 6th-12th grades are welcome to come with friends for a full day of independent skiing and riding (no lessons or groups). Members in K-5th are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian. Limited space and bus stops available. Pre-registration is required. Watch for your e-invitation. 

 

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JANUARY 24 & 25: PHOTO DAY AT AFTON ALPS!!!

Here's your chance to capture your kids smiling on the slopes!  Sports Star Photo will be out to take individual, buddy and group shots. Choose from a variety of packages including buttons, plaques and more!  Registration forms will be sent home on the bus and available on the Blizzard website starting January 12.

Welcome Mites (K-1)!  Get ready for a great day on the slopes with your instructors! You should have received an email from your instructor introducing your instructors' names and group name.   Remember to check your packing list in your membership packet and label everything!  Many skiers have the same boots, skis, jackets and we need to know which is yours!  Layer up, bring a hearty lunch and label everything!  Our loving instructors will take it from there!
  
Welcome back SuperMites (Grades 2-3)! After a nice break the instructors are ready to get in some mileage and hit the slopes - great ready for a day filled with fun!

SUPERKYDS (Grades 4-5)

By now, all the group changes have been made and the groups are ready to roll for the season! If your child needed to be moved for any reason, you would have been contacted.
Color level lessons will continue this week. Remember the SK schedule is as follows:
  
Arrival-10:15  Ready to hit the slopes and warm-up runs
10:15-12:00   Color level lesson at the lesson cones 
12:00-3:00     Group lunch and ski/board with themed instruction

Welcome to the first trip of the season!  We are really excited to meet you on Sunday!  This week you will receive an email from your instructor with your instructors' and group name. Please read those emails closer - lots of great season long information.

We do our best to group skiers/boarders based on the information we received on their questionnaire earlier this fall. We will evaluate all skiers/boarders the first few weeks and make any changes beginning week three. If we need to move your child for any reason, you will be contacted by the office.

Remember to check your packing list in your membership packet and label everything! Many skiers and boarders have the same boots, equipment, jackets and we need to know which is yours! Layer up, bring a hearty lunch and label everything! Our loving instructors will take it from there!

SATURDAY & SUNDAY CLASSIC (Grades 5-12)

New to Blizzard?  Be sure to check out the Classic Member orientation in the chalet to learn the ropes and get Classified. 

 

Not sure when lessons are?  Lessons are always at 10:00am, 12:15pm and 2:00pm at the Lesson Cone area at the base of the slopes.  Not sure which lesson to take?  Ask a Blizzard instructor at Cone #1.

 

Color Level Lessons:  Be sure to check the lesson schedule online, on the bus or at the Blizzard Table in the Chalet. Not all color lessons are offered at each lesson time.  But, you can always do a Ski/Ride With Me at all lesson times.  Ask at Lesson Cone #1 or the Blizzard Table in the chalet. 

 

Blizzard Table:  Forgot your gloves? Lost your lift ticket?  Head to the Blizzard Table in the chalet for anything you may need. Blizzard staff are there all day to help you out!

TEAM BLIZZARD SKI & BOARD


Team Blizzard Skiers - Jr Race (Grades 5-8) & Sr Race (Grades 9-12)

Coaches: Paul Aasen, Rich Berg, Adam Hosfield, Dan Parcheta, Jessica Parcheta 

Your focus will be on learning and enhancing ski racing technique and improving your personal skiing skills. Meet your coaches at the Lesson Cones at 10:00am. Practice goes until 2:00pm with a break for lunch.

Snowboard Coaches: Jeff Garvey & Mariah Lowinski 

Your focus will be on learning and enhancing park, pipe and freestyle moves and improving your personal riding skills. Meet your coaches at the Lesson Cones at 12:15pm.  Team practice goes until 3:30pm.

PARENT BREAKTHROUGH PROGRAM
Program Director: Heather Hosfield

  

This is your chance to learn to ski or snowboard or try again after 20 years!  Or maybe you just want to try to keep up with your kids!  The Parent Program meets for five Saturdays from January 17- February 14 during the regular Blizzard trip with expert instructors tuned in to adult needs. Pre-registration is required. 

 

Check in at the Blizzard Table for your lift ticket and to be directed to your table in the chalet.  If you ride the bus, you will receive your ticket on the bus.
