Spindrift Music Company banner - music by Pamela J Marshall
Greetings!

I've been quiet online while I was working on Walden at Evening, a commission for the August 2013 International Horn Society Symposium in Memphis. It's for horn, percussion and chorus, with text adapted from Thoreau's Walden. For me, he's a local author. I'm excited that the fine horn player Jonathan Boen from Chicago will be the soloist. Read more in my Elusive Music blog.

I'd like to invite you to some January concerts coming up in New York and Boston. I'll be at both of them. Come and say hello!

Photographs of Yellowstone in January and Miami concert in March
My husband and photography partner, David Emerson, and I have an exhibit at the Cary Library in Lexington, MA - Impressions of Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Grand Canyon. It's been extended through January. Drop in and take a look, or see the photographs online in our Honeycreeper gallery.

That Yellowstone trip inspired the title for some new music, Dance of the Hoodoos. For you friends in Miami, you can hear the premiere on March 15. Performers are the Mystery Park Arts Band at SoBe Arts' 22nd Subtropics Experimental Music and Sound Arts Festival in Miami Beach, Florida. I'm not sure of time and venue. More details soon in my concert calendar and the next newsletter.

I wrote the music for the two-week Rapido composition contest. At the start of the two weeks, they tell you the theme - dance - and instrumentation - oboe, violin, cello, piano. Then in two weeks you email your PDF score and a computer-generated soundtrack. It was a fun, concentrated effort. I didn't win that contest, so SoBe Arts gets the premiere. Listen to the demo.
