Fish and Game Seeks Comments about Fishing Regulations
Most anglers are aware of the numerous fishing rules in place on area waters, but not all are aware of the key role they play in getting those rules created. Throughout the year, Idaho Department Fish and Game biologists interact with anglers at check stations, during creel surveys, while doing field work, and on the phone.
They also collect comment through the formal "scoping" process at meetings held across the region to listen to anglers about what they are happy with or concerned about, and how F&G can do things differently. At the meetings, IDFG biologists present ideas to anglers about possible ways to improve the fisheries. The comment is ultimately used to support a formal rule proposal, or to abandon bad ideas before they become a rule.
The Upper Snake Region fisheries staff has three meetings scheduled during February to gather public input. All meetings start at 6:30 PM:
- Thursday, Feb 19, at the Teton County Courthouse in Driggs
- Monday, Feb 23, at the Ashton Community Center in Ashton
- Tuesday, Feb 24, at the IDFG office in Idaho Falls
