Water supply a mixed bag
The good news is that because of storage carryover from the 2014 irrigation season, contents in Henry's Lake and Island Park Reservoir are well above average for this time of year, and both reservoirs are expected to fill by the end of March. The bad news is that despite some wet storms around Christmas, snow-water equivalent is only about 85% of average at the stations that most accurately indicate runoff in the upper Henry's Fork watershed. Meanwhile, inflow to Island Park Reservoir is about 12% below the long-term average, although it is about 5% higher than I predicted back in October. Outflow from Island Park Reservoir has been 230-270 cfs so far this winter, around 25% below the long-term average. Considering all indices, water supply in the Henry's Fork watershed has been slowly but steadily improving since the dry summer of 2013, but it remains around 15% below average. Year End Thank You
We want to thank you for your support and the contributions you made to the Henry's Fork Foundation this last year. Your generosity made 2014, our 30th Anniversary, one of the best years for wild trout in the Henry's Fork, and your year-end gifts have helped to ensure this trend continues. Our work to monitor, understand and restore the Henry's Fork watershed is not possible without you! We look forward to continuing to work together with you to protect this wonderful place.
Campaign for Wild Trout
The Campaign for Wild Trout is the Foundation's current effort to ensure the projects and programs that protect and enhance the wild trout fishery of the Henry's Fork are fully funded now, and ultimately, in perpetuity. The goals are to raise $500,000 annually and to build an endowment of $10 million. For more information click here: http://henrysfork.org/campaign-wild-trout
