Studying Habitat-Use in Harriman
A new study of trout habitat-use in Harriman State Park will begin next month with the capture, radio-tagging, and release of randomly selected adult rainbow trout. This ground-breaking research seeks to understand the types of habitat preferred by adult rainbow trout in the Harriman State Park reach of the Henry's Fork during the summer, and whether variables such as stream flow and insect hatches affect these preferences.

Results of this study will help HFF and its partners design and implement future management and restoration projects that will increase the types of habitat preferred by adult trout in the Harriman reach. Ultimately, this could mean more wild trout in The Ranch reach of the Henry's Fork.

You can be a part of this study by sponsoring a tagged trout for $500. Your sponsorship will help us raise the $40,000 needed. As a thank you, this fall we'll send you a photo and description of your trout and a map showing where it spent the spring and summer. Sponsor a trout>>

Look for more info about how this study links trout habitat and the angling experience in HFF's summer issue of "The Voice of the River." Learn more>>
