EScrip, BoxTops and Soup Labels -- OH MY!

With all of the action of a new school year, don't forget a few of the small fundraisers that continue to help at TRCS:

  • Box Tops for Education & Campbells Soup Labels... please clip and collect those little rectangular things.  We get hundreds of dollars from them each year!  They can be turned in at the school front desk.  A couple of times a year we do "box tops and soup label drives."
  • eScrip:  You can register your Safeway cards at www.escrip.com and help TRCS earn extra funds!

WOW!  So many amazing things are happening at TRCS!  Check this out:

Three Rivers Christian Cheerleaders have again received the highest award achieved at the state level. The Cheerleaders are the WIAA Academic State Champions with a team G.P.A of 3.9. Congratulations to Macie Doolin, Natalie Ransom, Kessa Portwood, Danielle Jones, Haley Walker,  and Rebecca Sanchez.

Jesse Caddel was chosen to play in the All-Star High School Basketball game at Lower Columbia College March 15th. Local standout athletes are selected from the Cowlitz County area. Past players from TRCS include Josh Caddel, Stephanie Maldonado and Zach Martinez. Congratulations, Jesse!

7th grade student Grace Erickson
(pictured, above, with her proud father, Daryl) took second place in the ACSI Northwest Regional competition for Spelling Bee!  This qualified her to move on to the National Bee in Washington, D.C.!  Amazing, Grace!

Ms. Keri McHattie is our high school Counselor and Art Teacher.  She recently completed a beautiful 36"x48" acrylic on canvas piece (pictured, above).  Ms. McHattie was inspired by the French artist Alphonse Mucha and also by the film "Moulin Rouge."  She continues to inspire our students to use their God-given gifts.  Ms. McHattie hopes to sell the piece in the near future.  Congratulations, Ms. McHattie!

TRCS was proud to host the Kelso Longview Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Event on March 15th!  We had close to 100 attendees from area businesses join us for a tour of the high school, amazing food, and coffee drinks from the New Life barista!  Attendees won wonderful prizes such as a weekend in Leavenworth, a New Moon Restaurant gift basket, and a Red Leaf coffee gift basket.  Many thanks to 11th grader Parker Doolin for the fantastic jazz music, our high school serving volunteers, and Pam Hayes and her crew of chefs for the amazing food.  We are also grateful to the Chamber for giving us this opportunity to celebrate with our community!  We had a wonderful night!

Register TODAY!

Registration is now open on the TRCS website for two great events that you don't want to miss:

50th Anniversary Celebration
I know I mentioned this in last month's article, but I can't emphasize enough what a great milestone this is for our school.  While we have a wonderful space for the event (the New Life Sanctuary at the high school), there will be limited seating, so please make your reservation today.  We're going to spend time looking at the past and collectively dreaming about the future of TRCS.  We hope you can make it!  Click here to register for your seats today!

"Tackling the Tough Stuff" Seminar on Teen Issues
You've probably noticed that we didn't have an official "author event" this year.  Part of that is due to the 50th anniversary celebration, but it's also because we had this wonderful opportunity to bring TWO amazing authors to town:  Walt Mueller and Marv Penner.  These guys have literally "written the book" on the issues that are facing our kids, and we believe this is an incredibly important opportunity for our community.

$10 will buy you lunch AND a full day of training on issues that you probably don't even KNOW are happening in the lives of our children.  If you work with teens, are an educator or counselor, or have teens in your family, you will benefit from this day!  Educators can earn more than 6 clock hours through ESD 112!  To register, click here.

If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Principal's Message

It's a thrilling time to be part of the TRCS community.  As you can see from the highlights above, we have amazing students that are working hard to become who God made them to be!

We have a lot of upcoming events that we hope you can be a part of -- but one of the best "events" you can participate in for TRCS is to pray for our students, staff and families.  As a staff, we've recently participated in 40 days of prayer (using Mark Batterson's "Draw the Circle" book).  Making God the center of the conversation has helped us bond, as well as helping us to keep a watchful eye on the things that God is doing in our school.

Thank you for being part of the journey with us!

Blessings,
Randy Lemiere
