Thank you, Cynthia Tobias!
We had a great event with Cynthia Tobias! Thank you to all of you who joined us -- and learned about how your learning styles impact life. We honored Mrs. Palmer (pictured, above right, with Cynthia Tobias) that evening with the "Lifetime of Love" award, honoring her decades of service to TRCS and impending retirement. Cynthia also presented Mrs. Palmer with a signed first edition of The Way We Learn. Our middle school drama students also "warmed up" the audience with a performance of their skit about "getting stuck in sin." (Pictured, right, with students Isaiah and Jared.) Thank you to Mr. Stiltz and his students for their effort. Event donations have continued to come in with the event grossing nearly $4,000 towards the Tuition Assistance Fund.
Don't forget these important dates:

Administrator's Message: Accreditation
Generally speaking, humans tend to shy away from anything that's painful. But sometimes those things which hurt a bit (exercise, studying, hard work) help us to grow. As a school community, the process of accreditation is a little bit this way: some scary pain up front - but a worthwhile endeavor in the end.
Three Rivers Christian School has been working through the pre-accreditation process for a few years, and will officially begin self-assessment in preparation for a week-long site visit from an Association of Christian Schools International Accreditation Team in Fall of 2016. This team will be scrutinizing the school using a pre-determined rubric developed by Advanced Ed (a national accrediting organization and the "gold standard" in public and private schooling) and ACSI. They will rate us on our quality and efforts in the following five areas:
- Purpose and Direction
- Governance and Leadership
- Teaching & Assessing for Learning
- Resources & Support Systems
- Using Results for Continuous Improvement
So why are we going through all of this trouble?
Ken Townsend, the Northwest Director for ACSI, has described this whole process to me as "organizational sanctification." Sanctification is defined as the "process of making holy; to consecrate." Sanctification requires winnowing through and rooting out the things that keep us from doing well. How do we ensure that we're delivering the best in education to our students? How do we ensure that we have rigorous systems for oversight of our academics, finances and future direction?
The answer is: we do a lot of work.
We gather teachers, volunteers and board members, and we look honestly at the standards to see where we fall short. We bring in nationally-recognized education consultants to take a hard look at our test scores and help us implement new practices. We provide our teachers with the best professional development we can find. We survey our families to see where we fall short and where we exceed, and then we build scaffolding under the great things and we take the weak things back to the drawing board to be rebuilt.
And the bottom line is that we do it all for the glory of God. We desire, as a school community, to continually improve. We desire to be recognized not only for educational excellence, but for the purpose and direction we emphasize. Not only do we want our students to know concretely 'who they are and where they're going,' but as a school community, we want everyone who comes on our campus to know exactly 'who we are and where we're going.'
Accreditation will help us clarify and strengthen our efforts at TRCS. And, like exercise or studying, the little bit of pain will be worth it in the end.
Onward and upward!

Early Learning & Child Development Center
Three Rivers Christian Early Learning Center gives the opportunity for children to worship, pray and give to others in our neighborhood and community. In that effort; we adopted Luggage of Love, a program providing a small piece of luggage filled with essentials for children in transition as our community outreach ministry. The support of you, your children, members of the Joy group and others has been overwhelming! Thank you for the many ways in which you have given and because of your gift, many children of our surrounding counties will be blessed by receiving a backpack filled with items of need and comfort!
Mrs. Kristy Ford, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher and students pictured below before delivery to Luggage of Love.
Honoring children as natural learners provides a foundation for academic development and socialization which teachers and specialists continue to foster within the program.
Highlighted Spring Learning happenings include:
- Pre-Kindergarten Conferences
- Festival of Learning
- Gardening
- The Art of Puppetry
- Cheer Camp
- Gymnastic Classes

I NEED YOUR HELP Every year about this time, our school begins planning for the next year. So many of the decisions we make are based on the number of students enrolled. Please help us by enrolling your children early this spring or letting us know if your children will not be back. Personnel decisions, program decisions, enrichment decisions, and financial decisions are directly tied to the number of students enrolled. If you're undecided, let us know that as well. Thanks for your help with this. All of us here at TRCS want to provide the best possible Christian education for your children. CHAPELS One of the distinctions of TRCS are our Chapel Services. Our students worship the Lord amazingly every week. Many times I wish that parents could see the way their children love the Lord. Just remember that you are all invited to our Chapel Services. They are powerful opportunities for your children. God is good and He is alive at TRCS! Many blessings to all, Randy Lemiere

TRCS Athletic Update
A Message from Athletic Director, Tim Carns
The birds are chirping. The sun is shining. The flowers are blooming. What does this mean? It's tennis season at TRCS. We currently have 12 girls practicing and if you are 8th-12th grade and are interested in playing there is still time. Remember to get all forms in. You can access them on the school website. The fee this year is $100.
As I look ahead to the 2015-16 athletic year, I need to get an accurate count of how many athletes will be participating in each sport, I have given a survey to the lower campus 4th-7th graders to bring home and have parents sign it. Please be looking for the form. I will also be emailing the survey to families of TRCS next week. The 8th-11th grade classes will be receiving the survey next week. Thank you for all your prayers and support. It is a blessing to serve at Three Rivers Christian School.
Blessings, Tim Carns TRCS Athletic Director
