A Season of Change...

Scott Grove, Interim Administrator
|
"...all things were created by him and for him, He is before all, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body...." Colossians 1:16-18a
We have recently made the announcement of our changing administrative structure at TRCS. Above all else, we must acknowledge that Christ is the "head of the body" (and school). The TRCS School Board, along with Pastor Mark Schumtz, has named Erin Hart (currently Development Director) to be our Administrator. Randy Lemiere (currently HS principal) will now serve as K-12 principal while Debra Zandi (Executive Director of the CDC) completes the Administrative Team. Please pray for them during their transition time. The TRCS staff cheered when the announcement was presented!
Our faithful interim principal, Jim Chenoweth, will be transitioning back into retirement at the end of the month and Scott Grove, interim administrator/consultant will gradually phase out of TRCS by the middle of December. Office structures will slightly change to accommodate leadership on-site at all times. Stay tuned for more information as it unfolds!
Tidbits of information: (1) At the Northlake Baptist Church Founder's Service last Monday, the ministry of TRCS was presented. (2) Valley Christian Fellowship has held meetings with the congregation and their Elder Board to continue the steps needed in moving forward with our high school plans. (3) Regional Director of ACSI, Dr. Ken Townsend came to our school Monday and visited TRCS, encouraging us on in our ACSI/AdvancEd accreditation process. We are expecting an accreditation team in the spring of 2016. (4) The TRCS staff will be attending the ACSI/NEXUS Conference in Portland on Thursday and Friday for professional development (i.e. The Art and Science of Teaching; The Key to Classroom Success; What's the Context...Tools That Bring Meaning to Learning; Reach Every Student in Every Class and more). We will continue to work on school improvement efforts! (5) Chad Weller is our new maintenance person on our campuses. (6) A special thanks again to Jim Chenoweth for his service, dedication and commitment. Please give him a smiling "thank you" when you see him.
Blessings,
Scott

Onward and upward!
My husband's grandmother always says, "A change is as good as a holiday."
As Scott mentioned in his article, above, this is a season of change at TRCS. I grew up at TRCS, attending Kindergarten through 6th grade here (it was prior to the TRCS high school existing). I learned about Christ in these classrooms. My life was forever changed by the experience I had at our school -- and to be a part of that for future students is one of the great pleasures of my life. I just keep praying I can measure up and serve our school community well in this new position. (I welcome your prayers, too!) However, despite the workload, I'm as excited about all of this change as I would be for a holiday!
I will still be working on Development projects (with the help of some wonderful volunteers as well as Mrs. Peabody and Mrs. Welch). I really appreciate the influx of parent volunteers this year who have come to me, willing to take on various projects. Bless you! And if you think you'd like to help -- don't be shy! It's the energy of this community, including the parents and extended family, that will help us grow and improve.
I'm still working on a broad list of projects for this year, but here are some highlights of things underway:
- Accreditation is moving forward. This "organizational sanctification" will help bring us to the next level as a school. Our teachers and staff are working hard at compiling evidence for the quality work happening at TRCS.
- Miss Woodman has led the charge at updating our Emergency Response procedures. More information on this will be forthcoming. Safety is a top priority in all TRCS programs.
- Work towards the new high school is continuing as we move through bylaw revisions and other negotiations necessary for such a large project. We are so grateful for the diligence and hard work of our friends at both Valley Christian and Northlake Baptist. It's amazing to watch our school community grow through this process.
- The Tuition Assistance Fund continues to grow towards the needed goal, and we are grateful for the generous sponsors who have already stepped up to support "The Greatest Gift" Breakfast on December 3rd! (PNE Construction is our platinum sponsor. Our thanks also go to the Columbia River Reader, Thrive Advertising and the Lemiere family for their quick response!)
- Cynthia Tobias has agreed to be our spring author for the event at the Columbia Theatre, currently scheduled for February 23rd. More information to follow on this -- but you do not want to miss this amazing writer/speaker, or her insight on working with children!
We're going to have a lot more exciting information flowing out to you, our TRCS community in the next few months. Please keep praying for the continued blessing and protection for TRCS!
Onward and upward!

Child Development Center
What a Lord we serve! The Hebrew word for praising God means "to celebrate His perfections." I am blessed every day to bear witness to children who celebrate well!! Their grateful hearts, their joyful attitudes and their praising spirits are a constant reminder as to the blessing of Three Rivers Christian School!
Staff is looking forward to attending an Early Education Conference "Multiple Joyful Opportunities for Learning." Keynote Speaker, Dr. Gail Joseph will address Teach Me What to do Instead! The conference will be a one day event with afternoon breakout sessions of various class offerings. Many of our teachers will be taking advantage of this opportunity for continuing education.
Other Happenings on Campus:
- Security: We recently added two more security cameras which completed the goal of security cameras in all Early Learning classrooms.
- Community Outreach Ministry: TRCS CDC recently donated clothing, toys, shoes, jackets and baby items to the Back to School Clothes Closet at New Life Fellowship, baby items to Caring Pregnancy Center and other articles of toys and clothing to the Community House.
- Field Trips: Preschool Field Trips to the Fire Station and the annual pumpkin patch are on the calendar and scheduled for this beautiful month of October.
- Pictures: Bell Studios is scheduled to take pictures on October 22nd for children in Rooms 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 106. On October 23rd for students in Rooms 5, 6, 8, 104, 107 and 108.
Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough and Holiday Believe fundraiser kicks off October 9th. All proceed from this fundraiser will go towards classroom learning tools and play equipment. Please feel free to place an order (you can pick up packets at the CDC front desk). You are truly appreciated and make a positive difference to us all!!!

Many of you have heard that I am now the K-12 principal at Three Rivers Christian School. I am so humbled and excited to get to work with every student and every staff member. It is overwhelming if I think of the responsibility, but I have a Savior that gives me strength. Please pray for me in this new ministry.
One of the advantages of having a K-12 principal is that I can see the whole scope of curriculum. I look forward to seeing the entire curriculum and identifying any "holes" we might have. This will guarantee that students get a full Christian education in all subjects.
The plan for me at two campuses will be somewhat of an experiment. I'll be present at each campus half of the time. When I am at the high school, Mrs. Welch will be the Student Services Coordinator at the elementary school, and when I am at the elementary school, Mrs. Karns will be the Student Services Coordinator there. Both staff members are very capable in handling safety concerns and student issues. Also, I am only a phone call away from either campus.
I would like to publicly thank Mr. Chenoweth for blessing us with his wisdom and time. What a sacrifice he has given to lead the elementary students and staff. I consider him a great man of God and a mentor to me. Over the next few weeks, Mr. Chenoweth and I will be working together to make this transition a smooth one. He took Mrs. Hart and me around to all of the different classrooms to meet the students. It was so much fun to see the students' faces. God makes each student so beautiful; inside and out.
Another wonderful person here temporarily is Mr. Grove. He has been a real blessing to our school. His experience and wisdom has really been vital to our school. If you see him, give him a big thank-you and blessing.
Lastly, I look forward to meeting all of the parents at the elementary campus. I hope to have a few meetings in the near future. I'd like to hear your thoughts on how we can together make this ministry even better for all of our students here at TRCS!
Blessings.......Mr. Lemiere

TRCS Athletic Update
A Message from Athletic Director, Tim Carns
TRCS Athletic programs are off and running. The Lady Eagles Volleyball team is ranked 8th in the state of Washington and has high expectations for another trip to state. The Cross Country team looks to have at least two impact runners in Seth Carns and Karsten Rentner, who are looking to represent Eagle nation at State. There is a high probability that both runners could place in the top 20 at State.
The Middle School Volleyball teams have combined with St. Rose and many relationships are being built. The eighth grade squad is
currently undefeated and having great success.
Finally, basketball is quickly approaching. Middle School girls ages 6-8 grade will start on Monday, October 20. The Middle School boys start in January and the High School teams begin November 17. Please remember all forms, fees, and physicals must be in by the first practice. If not, athletes are not eligible.
Blessings,
Tim Carns
