This year, TRCS will be working to raise more than $75,000 to cover Tuition Assistance given to families who need extra help to afford the gift of Christian education.  We've already raised $8,500 in our first month!

More than 40 students attend because of generous giving of people like you. Can you help us meet our goal by the summer?

With all of the action of a new school year, don't forget a few of the small fundraisers that continue to help at TRCS:

  • Box Tops for Education & Campbells Soup Labels... please clip and collect those little rectangular things.  We get hundreds of dollars from them each year!  They can be turned in at the school front desk.  A couple of times a year we do "box tops and soup label drives."

Three Rivers Christian School is pleased to announce the winners of this year's TRCS Innovation Award.  This award is funded by an anonymous donor and rewards our teachers for innovative and creative programming in their classrooms.  This year we had one winners from each "river" or age group, of our school.

Katherine Cook, Preschool 4's teacher, was awarded for her consistently creative approach to early learning.

Laurel Moore, High School English and Choir Teacher, took the lead in developing an elective class last year called "Keyboards, Voice & More" that helped students develop individual musical talents.

Patricia Palmer, Elementary P.E. and Resource Teacher, consistently challenges students with innovative approaches to teaching physical health.  She created a "Winter Olympics" event for the entire school last year, complete with grade-level led "challenges" that mirrored the Olympic events.  She has also assisted students in progressing multiple grade levels with their reading skills through her resource work.

Congratulations to these three amazing teachers!

A strong start...

Scott Grove,
Interim Administrator

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose." Philippians 2:1-2

Three Rivers Christian School is off to a great start this year! Our enrollment is strong with 111 students in our high school, 125 in our elementary and 257 in our Child Development Center. Many of you heard about or saw our first day obstacles with a broken sewer line and a mini-bus quitting in route. Everyone was safe! People jumped into action! Attitudes were cheerful! And everything was repaired and back into full swing quickly. TRCS has a wonderful group of people working in service to the Lord and to the mission of Christian Education! As the Bible verse above says... "being one in spirit and purpose".

Tidbits of information: (1) Northlake Baptist Church is having TRCS as the "Mission of the Month" in September. Special offerings will go to support the school. (2) I had the opportunity to speak with the Just Older Youth (JOY) group about the great school we have at TRCS and how student lives are being changed and trained for the Lord. (3) Plans are in place for a Capital Campaign Team to seek financial support to the proposed new high school that will partner with Valley Christian Fellowship. Please pray for the Lord's will! (4) Best wishes and a "thank you" to LeRoy Jackson, our maintenance man, as he journeys on to Alaska. (5) Our elementary school is preparing to schedule some early release days for teachers to work on the requirements for our upcoming accreditation with ACSI and AdvancED.

Stay tuned for more information as the school year continues!

Blessings,

Scott

Elementary School Update

Jim Chenoweth, Interim Elementary Principal

The elementary campus held its annual "Back to School Night" with excellent attendance. Teachers were able to preview the year for families and answer questions. Mrs. Carroll's Kindergarten Bridge class received a special treat for highest percentage of parent attendance at 92%!

We announced that on the first Wednesday of each month, beginning October 1, grades K through 7 will dismiss at 1:00 to allow teachers to meet for an extended time to work on acquiring ACSI accreditation. A lot of the work has already been completed but there is still much to do. The transition of administration has caused some delay, but it is essential that the process be completed by the beginning of the next school year. Thankfully, our interim administrator, Scott Grove, has been through this process on both the school side and as part of reviewing teams, so his help will be very valuable.

Our 6th and 7th grade middle school students will be starting their first round of "exploritories" soon. These elective enrichment activities meet one hour a week for five weeks. The first set of choices includes badminton, ceramics, flower arranging, and chorus. These sessions are all taught by staff with some volunteer help.

Erin hart GREAT NEWS!

With our recent announcement in the Daily News about the partnership with Valley Christian Fellowship and the construction of the new high school building, not a day goes by that I'm not asked about the status of the project.  Diligent work is underway, and we'll be sharing more in the coming months.

We are currently assembling a capital fundraising team.  If you are interested in being a part of that team, please contact me.  God has already blessed us with some amazing, enthusiastic participants.  Please pray that God will continue to bring the right people to this project.

We have a sizable goal to fill this year for Tuition Assistance:  $75,000.  We've already got a good dent in the number with $8,500 raised.

Onward and upward!

Erin

Debra Zandi Child Development Center

Three Rivers Early Learning and Child Development Center and staff are looking forward to this new school year as we partner with L.E.E.P. and Longview School District as well as Accredited Christian Schools International. Opportunities abound in full departments of active learners. Here's what's happening:

New Beginnings... Our infant program continues to be a high-demand classroom nestled in the corner of our infant/toddler department and currently is at capacity in enrollment. The updated classroom has new cribs, a new diaper changing area with sink, gated areas and a private parent bonding room. The room is filled with soft music and color as it welcomes our newest babies and families. The staff is selected uniquely for their expertise and personalities thus enhancing new beginnings for our infants and babies.

Discovery... Our toddler department focuses on an environment of exploration, adventure, learning and discovery in an atmosphere of caring staff.   Our teachers are committed to providing excellence while young toddlers are exposed to music, movement, Bible activities, literacy and language. Outside is an opportunity of adventure for a young toddler and we look forward to building upon that environment. Classes are full with exception of only a few selected days.

Adventure... Our preschool department is increasing daily in opportunity to welcome new children and families into our center! Only few selective spaces remain. TRCS early educators are committed to prayer, growth and teaching so as to propel our early education program to a higher standard. Prayer time, chapel, five day clubs, P.E., music, literacy activities or participating in awareness of community programs create opportunity for our preschool students to develop and grow as early learners.

Opportunity... Our Most Delicious Fundraiser, Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough and Believe gift buying kicks off on October 1st. Just in time for Holiday baking and gift giving! Please feel free to stop by our office or call at 423-4510 to place an order!
