EScrip, BoxTops and Soup Labels -- OH MY!
|
With all of the action of a new school year, don't forget a few of the small fundraisers that continue to help at TRCS:
- Box Tops for Education & Campbells Soup Labels... please clip and collect those little rectangular things. We get hundreds of dollars from them each year! They can be turned in at the school front desk. A couple of times a year we do "box tops and soup label drives."
- eScrip: You can register your Safeway cards at www.escrip.com and help TRCS earn extra funds!

Planning for next year...
It is almost time to re-enroll at TRCS for the 2014-2015 school year. This process will begin on February 24 and I would like to give you a glimpse of some possible changes, enhancements, or advancements.
- All morning classes will have one teacher per grade. We have had a split grade this past year and have seen no growth in the student count at those grade levels. We are going to commit to having a straight grade with one teacher for those classes for the core subjects that are taught in the morning this coming year. This may mean very small class sizes but that would be great for those children.
- An additional kindergarten class called The Kindergarten Bridge will be offered. This is a transitional class rather than traditional. That means that the children will be taught the same curriculum but with different, hands-on opportunities. There will be more activities and the class size will be kept to twelve students at the most. If you are interested in learning more about this classroom give Miss Zoet a call and I will provide you information about a parent meeting in March.
- Literacy Library expansion. The CDC and the school libraries will be combined in June. All books will be put into our data base, tracked with bar codes, and set into one space with a reading loft and puppet theater. The students of the school will still have library time weekly.
- Title I funding provided staffing for student help in the before school and after school time. This is often re-teaching of core curriculum or extra practice for children that are slightly behind. Our focus is reading and math. (This Federal money comes as a result of our families filling out the "Free and Reduced Lunch" forms when the families qualify.)
- Additional security cameras. The area beyond the parking lot near the portables will be made more secure through the use of cameras and additional lights. These will be added in the late spring time.
- Tire Swing. The elementary play ground will have one more tire swing installed this spring and plans are in the works for additional landscaping around the play area.

Child Development Center
Rejoicing... One of the most rewarding areas in my role as an Early Learning Educator/Executive Director is to observe the phenomenal learning experiences happening in the lives of children! The excitement of children as natural learners gathering together to explore, experiment and grow in their world! New Winter Learning Happenings include: New Bible Curriculum Integration, Expressive and Abstract Painting... Ballroom Dance...Cupcakes for Kids and Ballet Classes. We have the blessing each day to rejoice in the gift of praying for, honoring and embracing the opportunity to celebrate children and the Lord that created them!
Pray Without Ceasing... We as a center, continue to share and provide clear discussions with children as we once again identify safety as a top priority. We use dramatic or role playing to practice safety in our classrooms as well as our outside campus. We practice all drills as appropriate and have implemented security cameras in key areas on campus.
In Everything Give Thanks... It is with great appreciation that we give great opportunity for children to worship, pray and give to others in our neighborhood and community. In that effort; we collected hats, gloves, books, blankets and hot chocolate to share with neighborhood ministries. Others are a little warmer this winter because of the love that came from the families of TRCS!
God gives us opportunity every day to learn from children. What a rewarding calling!
Rejoicing, Praying and Giving Thanks ...Celebrating a Joy-Filled Life in Christ!
