EScrip, BoxTops and Soup Labels -- OH MY!

With all of the action of a new school year, don't forget a few of the small fundraisers that continue to help at TRCS:

  • Box Tops for Education & Campbells Soup Labels... please clip and collect those little rectangular things.  We get hundreds of dollars from them each year!  They can be turned in at the school front desk.  A couple of times a year we do "box tops and soup label drives."
  • eScrip:  You can register your Safeway cards at www.escrip.com and help TRCS earn extra funds!

Jean ZoetSharing - Showing the Love of Jesus

At some point in our education, either parents or another mentoring adult showed us what it means to give. They might have encouraged us to "share" with another. We might be told to give a gift for a birthday. But also we might have seen these adults give and share and do much to model giving. We learned and we provide much for those we love and those around the world. This is what scripture models.

TRCS tries to model giving in the manner of Jesus during the Christmas season. We have gathered Christmas boxes for children around the world in years past. We "adopted" families last year and gave them Christmas gifts. This year we plan to collect new tennis shoes for the children of Haiti through Sole 2 Soul, a non-profit organization from our local area.
We got to know Sole 2 Soul last spring when we saw the amazing pictures that Mrs. Dahlke and Mrs. Gowan brought back from their trip to Haiti when they were delivering the shoes last year. We saw the big duffel bags full of shoes. We saw the huge smiles on children's faces as they received these NEW shoes. Following a discussion at school we decided that this would be a wonderful opportunity to share with others in great need during the Christmas season.

Our goal is to collect tennis shoes until the third week in January and then present the shoes to Mrs. Dahlke in a chapel. I hope to line the shoes up on our stage for a visual of what we have done. These children in Haiti rarely get new things and we intend to give them shoes that they can keep and use.  The need is great. The shoes must be new. The shoes can be any size. If you want to help and add to our shoe box you can drop them off at the school office by the Sole 2 Soul sign and large box.

A Christmas of Warm Blessings ~ We have begun collecting hats, scarves, mittens, small blankets, and boxes of hot chocolate for our annual Christmas community outreach project to benefit children of Cowlitz County. Please feel free to come to the main hall and hang items of your choice on the Christmas trees and bless the life of a child!

Building Success in Everyday Moments ~ Mrs. Melissa Applebury, one of our preschool teachers, recently attended an excellent Early Education Conference with keynote speaker, Amy Speidel. She came back with such enthusiasm after what she had learned that she immediately wanted to share with multi-age students and teach an Enrichment class! What an awesome example of excitement and innovation in stepping forward in raising the bar of excellence in teaching!

Licensing Review ~ Our Child Development Center recently went through our State Licensing Review. It is such a privilege to work with staff and families that continue to be committed to providing a safe and spiritual Foundation of Learning for the children of our school and the review reflected that strong dedication.

Security Cameras ~ Both phases have been completed and all classrooms, gym, playroom, main hall doors and toddler playground are safely monitored with our new system. What a blessing!

Christmas Enrichment Class Opportunities ~ With a Christmas theme we have begun a new venue of Enrichment classes. Please contact the Child Development Desk at 360-423-4510 for further information!

Preschool Christmas Program ~ May we rejoice and gather before the manger, as we celebrate our dear Saviors' birth. Preschool Room 7, Family Christmas program will be on December 20th in the church sanctuary.

Child Development Center will be closing at 3:00 On Christmas Eve. For further schedule please refer to the CDC calendar.

Celebrating His Birth joyfully with you...

Merry Christmas TRCS Families!
Erin hart The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Last Friday, the elementary campus celebrated the annual Christmas Pajama Feast (pictured, below).  If you're ever lacking in Christmas spirit, give us a call and make sure you get on the volunteer list for this great event.  Live caroling (thank you, Mr. Stiltz), big kids helping little kids dish their plates, and 180 pajama-clad children gathering together to feast:  this is Christmas joy!

This is the time of year that I am again reminded what a blessing it is to be part of this school ministry.  As a private school, we have amazing freedoms -- from creating our own school traditions to singing Christmas songs that are full of Christ.  I am so grateful for all of you who give routinely to make this place available to as many families as possible.  My Christmas wish is that one day, tuition will not be a factor in keeping any family from attending TRCS.  As you can see, we are amazingly close to reaching our Tuition Assistance Fund goal for this year, which means we can start pre-funding for next year -- and maybe in

the near future, my Christmas wish will come true.

If you're able to make a donation to the Tuition Assistance Fund (and want to do it in time to take advantage of your 2013 charitable gift deductions), please click here and note "TAF" in the memo field.

Merry Christmas, and God bless the TRCS Community!

High School Update

This semester, TRCS introduced a new class called "Keyboard, Voice, and More." Students work on piano and voice skills; other times students are able to practice on instruments of their choice. Twice a week, Mr. and Mrs. Moore conduct all students in a choir. The 24 voice choir recently performed at Calvary Community Ladies' Luncheon, Campus Towers, Canterbury Inn, and had their own concert at North Gate City Church. Excellent job students and Mr. and Mrs. Moore!

TRCS has recently purchased a bus from the Kelso School District. It replaces our 1978 Crown that we were able to sell for more than the purchase of our new one. Praise the Lord! We'd like to replace two more so if anyone is interested in a donation, please give us a call.

Lastly, may the Lord bless you and your family this Christmas Season. Being a part of your children's lives is such a blessing to all of us here at Three Rivers Christian.

Blessings,

Randy Lemiere

TRCS Athletic Update

A Message from Athletic Director, Tim Carns

tim carns

Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:16 "Be joyful always; pray continually; and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you."

I would like to take a minute to say thank you to all of our volunteers and coaches. Without the help of so many committed people, Three Rivers Athletics would cease to exist. A special thanks to Johnny Rosado for the great job he is doing with our middle school basketball teams. Jim and Darryl Murphy who have helped teach and train our basketball teams for the past six years. We have high expectations for our varsity boys' basketball team over the next two years. Under the guidance of these two men, our boys have become prepared to compete at State. Along with our boys' program, our varsity girls have begun to achieve success at a level they never have before. Our girls also have the opportunity to win our league, advance in the playoffs, and possibly earn a State berth. Thank you to Lucas Myers, Loren Portwood, Ed Johnson and Jake Rahn for their dedication to coaching our high school girls.

For all of you who have volunteered from concessions to keeping scores at games to driving buses, to fundraising to cleaning up, even though you are not mentioned by name, you have built rewards in Heaven and helped our athletes to compete.

Thanks -
Tim Carns, TRCS Athletic Director
