Tuition Assistance Partners:  Can YOU Be One of a Hundred?

Feb-2013

Our Tuition Assistance Fund is just over $58,000!  We are nearly at our goal for this year -- and looking forward to starting fundraising for next year!

At TRCS, we never want to turn families away from a Christian education because of funding, and it is because of generations of loyal supporters that we have made a substantial difference in the lives of more than 10,000  children.

Can you join us?

A small sacrifice can bring large rewards. So far this year, more than thirty families are  receiving varied levels of tuition assistance.

Make a lasting difference for a child's future.  Click here for more info, or donate online at www.3riversschool.net.

Jean ZoetAll About Next Year

It's hard to believe that the school year is winding down and we're already talking about 2013-2014!

If you are an existing family and haven't enrolled for next year, please pick up a registration form in the office and take advantage of the lower registration fee (before May 1st)!

Next year, we plan to continue the current placement of our middle school grade levels.  We have had wonderful feedback and encouragement about our 6th and 7th grade programs.  The 6th and 7th grades will be at the Longview campus, and 8th grade will continue at the Kelso campus.

We are looking forward to another great year, and we can't wait to meet with new families at our Festival of Learning night.  See you then!

Burger King Coupon Books

We have a new crop of Burger King Fundraiser books available in the school offices for only $5 -- and these don't expire until December of 2013, so make sure to pick up a few for those nights when you don't feel like cooking!  They contain more than $40 worth of coupons (including multiple free meals).  All proceeds from this go towards new playground equipment.

Elementary Student Council Store

The Elementary Student Council has picked some fun items to sell in their "student store."  From school logo pencils to "gripulls" (fancy pencil grips), they have a selection of items to help them fundraise for their special projects.  Store sessions are on FRIDAYS at lunchtime, so please send you child with a couple of dollars that day so they can purchase something new and fun while supporting the council projects!

Debra ZandiChild Development Center Update
Building a Foundation for a Lifetime of Learning

Our Child Development Center is committed to demonstrate a building relationship with God that is reflected in the way we interact with our children and families. It is our goal to continue to build upon our existing Early Childhood Education programs, which in turn offers not only professional development for staff, but a focused, progressive learning system for young children of community families.

We, as a staff at Three Rivers Christian, focus on benefits of staff enrichment workshops and trainings while at the same time implementing and launching a strong partnership between our kindergarten and preschool teachers.

Other priority strategies include:

  • Bringing God's Creation into our Toddler playground. Creating a play yard rich with natural elements that will produce play experiences full of those similar to our own childhood. Trails, hills, trees, willow huts, a covered area... But we cannot do this without the gifts of many. The goal $30,000. Would you support us in this endeavor in prayer and consider a financial gift? Please feel free to call me at 423-4510 to share in this endeavor for God's children. When we are obeying God's direction great things can and will be done!
  • Early Literacy Library reading loft, puppet theater, iPads and additional book centers
  • Kindergarten readiness assessment
  • Provide and deepen a parent resource for Christian Early Education
  • Professional development

Building the FOUNDATION for a lifetime of LEARNING...

TRCS Toddler Natural Play Space Project is Ongoing:

From outdoor chalkboards to blueberry bushes and grapevines, our children will have the opportunity to learn about the world around them through play. You can sponsor a hand-print tile or a paving stone with your child's hand/foot prints. Donor names will appear on a plaque in the garden. Your help can make wonderful play memories for our children.  Click here for more info.

iPads for Preschoolers:

We would like to enrich the experience of our youngest students by adding 3 iPad stations to replace the old computer stations in our Child Development Early Literacy Library. Designated learning stations would put the newest technology in the hands of our youngest learners and the cost of the learning stations is minimal. Thanks to grants and gifts, TRCS now has a wireless infrastructure across the campus and our preschool learners are eager to begin the exploration of learning through technology.  If you are able to give and would like to donate online, please click here and write "iPads for Preschoolers" in the memo section.

High School Update

Every month there are so many opportunities for our students to learn and grow. Here are some of the highlights for this month.

  • National History Day Competition - Saturday, March 2nd, many of our history students competed in NHD Regional Competition. Out of 17 students from our school, 12 will compete at the State NHD level May 4th at Bellevue Community College. Winners there will compete at the national level in Washington D.C. in June.
  • ACSI Musicale Competition - March 11+12 our TRCS Band competed in the annual ASCI competition. Mr. Greg Moore took our middle school and high school band members to Northwest Christian University. They competed well and won first prize in the small school category!
  • High School Proficiency Exam - March 12-14 our tenth graders took the HSPE assessments required by the State of Washington. These assess the students' Reading and Writing skills. Results will hopefully be sent to us before the end of the year.
  • History Field Trip - March 15, Mr. Sheppard took our eighth and ninth graders on a field trip up the Columbia Gorge to experience sections of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Stops included Beacon Rock, Bridge of the Gods, Multnomah Falls, and Bridal Veil, Shepherd's Dell, and Vista Pointe.
  • Key Club - Our service oriented Key Club sponsored a fundraiser called One Dollar for Life. Two hundred and twenty-five dollars was raised. The money will be used for computers and medicines at a girls' school in Kenya.
  • Holy Week - This year at the high school, we will have three special gatherings. Wednesday March 27, missionaries from Uganda will speak to our students. Thursday March 28, we will have a Communion Chapel where Tim Carns will explain the meaning of communion, and those who would like, can have communion. On Friday March 29, Mr. Sheppard will do a drama of the builder of the cross. It will be a solemn experience. Everyone is welcome to come. Each gathering will begin at 8:00am.
  • Career Fair - March 29, our tenth graders will be attending the Career Fair at LCC. There they can talk to many professionals about career choice.
