FOREIGN LANGUAGE CHATS

Join Nathalie Crick for French Chat every Monday at noon in September and Lillian Scott for Spanish Chat on Tuesday, September 2 and 9 at noon. These informal chat sessions are open to all levels of learners. Brown bag optional.

 

BOOK CLUBS

Everyone is welcome to join our book clubs. The Nonfiction Book Club meets on the first Saturday of the month at 4:15 pm and is led by Drew Brookhart. The Train Dreams fiction group meets on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm and is led by Martha Durgy. Books for both groups are available through the library for free on a first come, first served basis.

 


LITERATURE OUT LOUD
Sunday, September 21 at 3 pm
Dramatic readings by local theater and radio personalities and other local talent makes for an entertaining hour. This month Literature out Loud goes Sci-Fi with Graham Northrup and Logan Carter reading from Ray Bradbury and Arthur C. Clarke.


TRAVEL TALK: Adventures in Southern Africa
Tuesday, September 23 at 5:30 pm
Gail Scott and Tom Quinlan traverse four countries in three weeks, traveling the Okavango Delta, dodging hippos on the Zambezi River, and walking with lions in the Zambia. Experience their adventure in this unique film show.

Don't miss out on this valuable series of free ACT workshops presented by Kalfas Educational Services. The workshops will be divided by subject matter and you can attend as many as you like. Please bring a calculator, notebook, and test questions.

Wednesday, September 3 at 3 pm

The Teen Advisory Board meets the first Wednesday of every month. Members receive community service credit for their time. TAB members are considered advocates for the library and are subject to a code of conduct. For more information or for an application, contact Genevieve at 970-429-1948.


 

 

High School Book of the Month Club

Come by after school and enjoy this classic film starring Robin Williams as an adult Peter Pan who must return to Neverland in order to save his children from Captain Hook. 144 minutes, rated PG. For kids in grades 5-8.

Visit the library after school and get creative with a variety of fall-themed craft projects. For kids in grades 5-8.

PITKIN PALS

Tuesdays (by appointment) at 4 pm

This reading mentorship program pairs children ages 5-10, who are looking to sharpen their reading skills, with a high-achieving high school student in order to encourage a love of books and reading, and to bolster reading confidence. Participation in the program requires a one-month commitment to attend weekly appointments. Please contact Anne at 970-429-1922 for more information or to sign up.


BABY STORYTIME IN SNOWMASS VILLAGE

Friday, September 5 at 10 am at Snowmass Chapel

A lap-sit story time for babies under 24 months. About 20 minutes, with stay-and-play afterwards. Meets every first Friday of the month in the Creekside Room.
