LIBRARY WEEK

April 13 - 19

This national observance, started in 1958, is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country. Each April, we celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians. All of us at Pitkin County Library are thankful for the support of our wonderful community and patrons!


LITERATURE OUT LOUD

 

On Sunday, April 13 at 3 pm 

Literature Out Loud will usher in spring with "How Does Your Garden Grow?" Local garden goddesses Cathy Markle and Eileen Op'tHof will bring you a literary bouquet from Katherine Mansfield, Saki, and Diane Ackerman. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
FOR CHILDREN

Stories, Songs and Supper: Fun with Friends

Wednesday, April 9 from 5:30 to 6:45 pm
 All young children and their families are welcome to attend the third and final Stories, Songs and Supper of the year. This event - a partnership between Pitkin County Library, Kids First, and Raising a Reader - will focus on social and emotional skills through stories, songs, activities and a tasty dinner. Grumpy Bird Story Time 

Wednesday, April 16 at 10:15 am 

Pre-school story time will feature Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Tankard. All 4-year-olds will receive a copy of the book compliments of the Colorado State Library and "Reach Out and Read" as part of the One Book 4 Colorado program in order to encourage families to read together.

 

After School Craft  

Wednesday, April 16 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm  

Join us for this final after school craft. We'll meet in the children's room.

 

Visit the Children's Room from April 7 - 20 to view the three-dimensional representations of "shelter" created by the third grade class at the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork.

SPECIAL TEEN PROGRAM

Free ACT Test Prep Workshop

Tuesday, April 15 at 6 pm  

All teens taking the ACT this year are invited to participate in a free ACT test prep workshop with Philip Kalfas of Kalfas Educational Services. Teens are asked to bring calculators, notebooks and example test questions on which they would like to work. Call Genevieve at 429-1948 for more information.


Teen Coffee & Craft 

April 16th 

A free monthly program where young people can put their creativity to good use! This month we'll be decorating Easter eggs.
