Effective Sales CallsAnswering the Question of Why
Never make a sales call to a customer unless you can answer the question "Why would this customer do business with our company, me?" The answer must be a benefit to the customer. The answer must fit the customer's agenda, not yours. The customer should do business with you because you make them feel good, or you will solve a problem, or both.
There must be a business benefit and a personal benefit - often interlinked - for the customer. The sales person answers the question by calculaing what economic benefits the product or service will give the customer and by calculating the consequences to the customer not going with the recommended product or service. The sales person determines how the customer is benefited directly and personally. So remember to ask yourself, "what can I do to help this client?" before picking up the telephone to call. |
