Greetings!
October! Yes, it's October which marks the fourth and final quarter of the calendar year. If history holds true (and it usually does here at CBU) this is going to be your best quarter yet. Now is the time when all your hard work starts to payoff, and it's scary how much business you can bring in from now until the end of the year.
In this issue of CBU News, we recap the Fall Retreat, introduce Critical Care, set dates for IUL webinars, offer up a recruiting opportunity, and sail the Seven C's.
Enjoy the extended weekend and spectacular fall foliage. Thanks for the business you do with CBU! |
 | | Combined Benefits United - Fall Retreat 2012 | Fall Retreat a SuccessNow It's Time to Make It Rain
The Fall Retreat has commenced, and now it's time to Make it Rain! This means, setting (and hitting) your goals by working your book of business, staying focused on success, and applying some new techniques along the way.
During the retreat, our speakers offered insightful tips ranging from how to make "Every Dime, Every Day" count to how to communicate by "Sailing the Seven C's". In the next several e-newsletters, we'll share the concepts that we learned at the retreat, such as: new ideas for life and long-term care insurance, living wills and trusts, buy-sell agreements, supplemental health, and ways to effectively communicate.
Each year, we look for ways to improve the Fall Retreat. If you have ideas for next year's, please drop us a line. Thanks to all who attended, and we look forward to hearing about your future sales success.
Oh, and if you did not hear...there was a murder at the Fall Retreat. Please click here to view the suspect list. |
Expanding the LTCi Market Place
Critical Care is a New Kind of Insurance
Critical Care is a new "must know about" product from Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company that is Critical Illness coverage with increased benefits for assisted living facility and assisted living confinement.
Critical Care is designed, first and foremost, as a supplemental health insurance product for the broad market of under-insured individuals experiencing higher premiums, deductibles and co-pays along with reduced health insurance benefits. The new Critical Illness, or Critical Care Insurance, is designed to also be attractive to the niche market of individuals either not healthy enough or wealthy enough to obtain traditional LTCi.
The truth is, more new carriers with new and creative solutions are exactly what the market needs most at this time. Traditional LTCi is simply not for everyone; sales penetration rates tell us so. And the government will never be the answer for most. Just as life and annuity products with living-benefits for LTCi are appropriate options for some consumers, Critical Care is going to help breathe new life into a market that, quite frankly, could use some right about now.

Sailing the Seven C'sEffective Communication When Interviewing Dennis Rinner, Director of National Accounts with American Independent Marketing, reminds us to use the Seven C's of Effective Communication while interviewing clients. As you begin the fact finding process, it's important to make sure we communicate in the clearest, most effective way possible. Keeping the following top-of-mind in how we present ourselves can be helpful:
1. Comfort - Talk or write with a warm and concerning tone. 2. Concerns - Recognize concerns and address them right away. 3. Control - Direct the interview or conversation. 4. Choice - Present options while helping to direct decisions. 5. Candor - Be frank, open, and sincere. 6. Competence - Display your knowledge while being informative. 7. Confidence - Have assurance and believe in yourself.
We spend almost our entire day communicating, and the Seven C's can be used not only verbally but in writing as well. By "Sailing the Seven C's" with our clients, it'll allow us to relate to our clients better and to be more effective in our productivity.
