More stuff added to Saturday sale
News From Orion's Attic

Fishing rods and tackle, tools, figurines and jewelry added to Dec. 13 Upscale Yard Sale in Silver Spring!

Won-ok and I are going all out to empty our garage by the end of the year. We've now added a bunch of vintage fishing rods and tackle, figurines, and more vintage jewelry to the sale this Saturday. We've also found a few more tools, taken better photos of the existing tools and priced each tool separately instead of by the box. We also took some shots of the pewter collection. We've also got a huge pile of sewing supplies -- fabrics, crochet needles, threat, yarn, etc.

You can now view more than 700 photos at Orion'sAttic.com. Fresh highlights below:

TOOLS: Some of the tools still function but they all have a wonderfully warm, design appeal. Whether you're looking for a few old-fashioned tools or you're looking to add well-aged appeal to your garage, basement, man cave or shop, some of these pieces might do the trick. All of these items came from a farm in rural Maryland.

We've got items including: Open-top tool box, carpenter's box, hatchet, hammer, hand saw, boring tool and bits, gate hardware, pliers, leather hole puncher, wrenches, shelf support, hand plane,  combination square, chisel, draw knife, corn husking implements, breast drill, brace and bits, micro dial, hand truck.

FISHING RODS, REELS AND LURES: Big variety of rods and reels including Wright and McGill Spin Champ  with Garcia Mitchell 308 reel, True Temper 3275 rod, Ted Williams Tough Stik with Daiwa 4000 C reel, True Temper 95-10 rod with Pen Peer wheel,  Montague Blue Island BBO rod. Lures included The Reb-L, Heddon Weedless, L&S Mirrorlure, Evans Popping Bug. We also have a number of other reels including some in boxes.

VINTAGE JEWELRY: Really pretty stuff that Chris doesn't know enough to write about. Nice jewelry boxes, too. See photos!

Again, our next Orion's Attic "Upscale Yard Sale" on this SATURDAY Dec. 13, 2014. You'll find us on the corner of one of our favorite charities, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, located at 8230 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The sale will start promptly at 9 a.m. and go until 4 p.m. and maybe longer depending on weather conditions. No early birds. Numbers handed out to early arrivers.

We've spent the last few weeks rounding up a whole truckload of cool collectibles, jewelry, art, advertising, décor, toys and more. We bought out the contents of one condominium in Silver Spring, part of another in Bethesda, traversed off-the-beaten-path auctions across Maryland and pulled out some of our own favorite pieces we've been foster parenting at our house. We'll even provide some free heat by the pay/jewelry/coin counter!

This sale is packed with collectibles, advertising, coins, toys, jewelry, vintage tools, sports memorabilia, china, kitchenware, tons of art, pottery, pewter, home decor, World War II-era aviation magazines and so much more.

But wait, there's more. You can start your day with us and then join our friends at the Fenton Street Market for its pop up store

HOLIDAZE on the second floor gallery space at Pyramid Atlantic from noon until 8 p.m. At HOLIDAZE, you'll find a curated selection of quality, handmade and locally designed products from regular FSM vendors.

Family of former U.S. Congressman thanks Orion's Attic for clearing house

It's always an incredibly rewarding feeling to get great testimonials from people we have been able to help. One of the latest comes from the family of former U.S. Rep. John H. Buchanan Jr. Click on the full report here and a soundbite below:

"Chris, Won-ok and their crew worked hard to go through the house in an expeditious and orderly way. They were able to take our nice pieces to an estate sale they were running that had extra room and quickly worked out donations and hauling of the trash. It was all done within just two or three weeks! They were very pleasant to work with and we ended up making money. Thanks to Orion's Attic for taking over a difficult job and doing it well!"

Antique wood refrigerator (ice box) for sale in Frederick

If you're looking for a distinctive piece to add to the high-aesthetic design in your home -- or your know interior decorators who might -- we just brought a rare antique Barnet refrigerator to our booth J-5 in the Old Glory Antique Marketplace in Frederick, Maryland. You could bring it back to life for special occasions or simply use it for its eye appeal, storage and display capability.

We didn't have a chance to measure it before we dropped it off at Old Glory but it has to be at least five feet tall by 40 inches wide. The piece is missing a castor so you could either add one more or take off the other three. You don't find models this old (patented pre-1910) and this big very often.

The sticker price on it is $1,395 but we're running a 30-percent-off sale on EVERYTHING in our booth, making the walk-out price $976.50. If one of our loyal followers asked us to shave a bit more off the price, we might be able to do that! You can also arrange with Old Glory to get some of the young, strong guys there to load it for you. (Tips appreciated.)
