Greetings:

Nobody likes to be interrupted, especially when engaged in important work.  The disciples are no exception.  They become indignant when a group of moms with their children have the audacity to barge in on their time of learning.  As it happens, the disciples do learn an important lesson that day, but it is not the one they were expecting.  Find out what it was this Sunday morning as we examine Mark 10:13-16 when Jesus Blesses the Children.

Habitat for Howard's House
The roof is up, and we are moving onto the siding.  The crews are doing a fantastic job and Howard's house is really beginning to look like a home for Kristen and Kayley.  Our next build day is Saturday March 12 and we would love to have you join us.  We need about 15 volunteers.

Please sign up by calling or emailing as we need a headcount for the work and lunch.

Detailed construction skills are not necessary, just a willingness to come together and get the work done. There are also opportunities to help with meals for the work crew.

We meet at 7am at Strawbridge for those who wish to carpool. Lunch is provided and we wrap up around 3pm.

For more information contact Neil Ryan at 281-361-2333 or by email at: sumchabitat@gmail.com

Blood Drive Can You Spare a Drop?

Our Spring Blood Drive will be held on Sunday, 3/13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Donor Coach in the parking lot.  Your "Gift of Life" is especially important at this time of the year.  Because of Spring Break and the Easter holidays, some regular donors will be unavailable.  The new "Zika" virus outbreak has caused the Blood Center to put a 28-day deferral on any potential donor who has traveled to Mexico or some Central and South American countries.  This deferral has the effect of temporarily reducing the available donor base.  Your priceless gift can help keep the local blood supply from reaching critical levels. Sign-up will be in the Activities Corridor.  Please stop by the table and
schedule your appointment.
Contact Skip Richardson (281-360-1164)
with your questions.

Our mission: giving Ukrainian orphans an unforgettable family experience.

American families welcome an orphan into their homes to live with them for 4-10 weeks during Ukraine's Winter or Summer school holidays. Host families shares God's love with the child, as well as their own values, hobbies and beliefs. Just as the orphan child experiences American culture and the English language, so also the host family learns from the child about Ukraine's customs, history, beliefs and culture. Host children range in age from 7-16 years. Hosting an orphan child is a lot like going on a mission trip. Except you're bringing the mission trip to your home where the entire family gets to be involved in giving the blessing, no matter how old or young. In our experience, host families intend to bless an orphan child, but often find they also receive an incredible blessing, as they give the child the gift of hope and love.
If you would like to know more about this wonderful mission experience contact Sheela Allen at sheela@hostukraine.org or call 281-384-3201. Strawbridge will also have an ongoing donation area in the   Activity Corridor for donations for the orphans; a list will be posted by the table.
