Greetings:

It's something I never seem to have enough of; and just when I need it the most is when I am most likely to run out: Patience.  Let's face it, of all the various aspects of the Fruit of the Spirit, this is the one that better come from above because it is scarce down here.  It is critical to the healthy communities and relationships to which we Christians have been called, but all too quickly forgotten in times of conflict.  Fortunately, our God is one who provides in abundance all things necessary for the Kingdom-and that includes this important gift.  Join me this Sunday as we all praise God together during one worship service at 10am in the Sanctuary and celebrate the God who showed great mercy and patience for us on the cross.

Dr. Todd Jordan
Senior Pastor

Acolytes Needed! As we begin a new school year, acolytes and cross bearers are needed for each worship service. This service opportunity is open to students in 1st-6th grade. Younger students carry in the cross, while those in 3rd-6th grade light the candles. Students typically serve 1-2 times per month. If you are interested, please email Rebecca Pubentz at mpubentz@hotmail.com with your child's name, grade they are entering, and service you typically attend. We will hold a training in early September.

Will be Family Promise of Lake Houston which serves Humble, Atascocita, Kingwood, Porter, and Huffman. This organization brings service agencies and local volunteers together to provide basic needs to those families experiencing financial difficulties. They work with the families to build individualized plans which include financial, career and educational goals. Here at SUMC we are part of the rotational hosting which happens 4 times per year. The next rotation is September 6th-13th. We need volunteers from SUMC! Please stop by their table in the Activities Corridor to sign up.
