Todd Jordan
Greetings:

In Mark 9, Jesus invites his disciples to join him in an upper room for one last meal together. They were there to celebrate the Passover meal, the time when Jews remembered how God heard the cries of his people enslaved in Egypt and led them into freedom. But when Jesus broke the bread and blessed the cup, he took the dinner to a whole new level, offering them a night truly to remember! Join me this Sunday as we learn more about the Last Supper, and discover what that Seder celebration 2000 years ago means for us today.

Pictorial Directory

The Strawbridge UMC Pictorial Directory is now available to be picked up on the table in the sign up hallway.

Please take one directory per family.

We would like to keep the directory updated on a yearly basis, so you can expect that the Strawbridge photographers will be back in the Narthex sometime in the late Fall to take pictures.

I want to thank everyone who helped put this directory together, as it wouldn't have been possible without their efforts:

Photographers - Charlie Burnett, Gary Goldman, Nick Munger, Carol Kollehner, and Kelly Roxburgh.

Information checkers - Jerry Morgan, Jean Anderson, Laurie Jones, Mary Sue Lewis, Venus Price, Becky Munger, and Kathy Reedy.

SUMC staff - Sandra Plilar, Anna Raines, and Todd Jordan.

The directory was compiled by human, imperfect volunteers. If your name is misspelled or any other information is incorrect, we apologize in advance for any errors that were made and hope that you will forgive us.

Blessings,

Cheryl Burnett

Volunteer Opportunities for Missions

HAMM is looking for a small group to take up the Bordersville Community Lunch for seniors. This is  one day out of the month for a few hours to prepare and serve a lunch to a group of senior citizens at the Bordersville Community center. One month during the quarter Chick-fil-a has agreed to provide the lunch. This is a great opportunity to share God's love with a group of senior citizens. If you, your Sunday school class or other small group would be interested please contact the church office at 81-360-4500. This outreach activity will need to begin in March.

Mission Northeast has the following outreach activities over the next several months. Volunteers are needed to help out with child care on Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's from 8:45 to 11:45 at the center. Please contact the church office at 281-360-4500 or Mission Northeast at 281-354-1200.  On March 19th Mission Northeast will be providing a job fair at the center. The Center is looking to have as many employers there as possible. If you are interested in helping someone obtain employment and your business would be interested in being part of this effort please contact Mission Northeast.

New Directions Class Study "Respectable sins "

Have Christians become so preoccupied with "major" sins that we have lost sight of our need to deal with more subtle sins? Navigator author Jerry Bridges addresses the "acceptable" sins that we tend to tolerate in ourselves, including pride and anger. He goes to the heart of the matter, exploring our feelings of shame and grief and opening a new door to God's forgiveness and grace. Travel down the road of spiritual formation with Jerry and discover your true identity as a loved child of God."   Come join us in Room 207.

Chancel Choir

Come Try Us Out!

Do you like to sing? Has anyone ever told you, "Hey! You should be singing in the choir!"

This is the time to try us out! We are starting our Lenten and Easter music. We would love for you to join us at rehearsal on Wednesday nights 7:00 to 8:30pm in the choir room next to the Sanctuary.

Frequently Given Excuses (FGE's):

#1: I travel and can't commit to every week rehearsals

Answer: That's okay! We work music several weeks in advance so you will have plenty of time to learn

the music.

#2: I have little ones and my spouse works nights.

Answer: That's okay! We provide free childcare at the church.

#3: I love to sing but can't read music.

Answer: That's okay! Come and try it. We will help you learn how to read music.

ALL ARE WELCOME!! If you have any questions, please email Rev. Laurie Purcell,

Minister of Music, at [email protected].
