BEING TRANSFORMED BY GOD'S TRUTHS

 

WE WELCOME ALL AGES AT OUR WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY EACH SUNDAY MORNING AT 10:05

 

Well it's been an interesting few weeks since Christmas.

 

The Lord's Prayer can be a sentence by sentence study.

From the Lord's Prayer we see how "forgive us our debts" is really about God's Grace;

How "Lead us not into temptation" is really a guide for us.

 

We have enjoyed handouts such as "Six Different Types of Prayer":

Prayer of Petition (when asking for something)

Prayer of Consecration and Dedication (when you have two or more Godly options before you)

Prayer of Intercession (when you pray for others as Paul prayed for the different churches)

 

We have shared inspiring pictures that stretch our imagination,

such as when Jesus, walking on the water in the midst of a storm, is shown pulling the impetuous Peter up out of the turbulent and foaming sea water.

 

We are a new and small class with an exciting beginning; to which new members can add adventure.

 

In addition, our leader Jerry Raymond has a keen interest in Bible prophesy, which always adds a surprise and a twist to our lively dialogues.

 

Come, add, and be challenged in your daily walk as a Christian, while growing in your understanding of God's purpose (and peace) to your life.

 

And as Tiny Tim would say: "God Bless Us, Everyone!"

The Strawbridge Cooks are firing up the ovens on Wednesday Nights beginning on January 14th.

 

Meals will be served from

5:30-7:00 pm in the SAC.

 

Tickets will be available in the

Activities Corridor Sunday

mornings between services.

 

Youth/Adults:   $6.00

Kids 11 and under: $ 3.00

Max Family Amount: $20.00

New Minister of Music

 

 

We are pleased to announce that Laurie Purcell will be joining Strawbridge as the Minister of Music on February 1.

Laurie started piano at age seven and has sung in church choirs since high school. She began directing and accompanying church choirs after moving to Texas. Her undergraduate degree is in music with piano as her instrument. She completed a Masters in sacred music and theology and is now a commissioned Deacon in the United Methodist Church specializing in music ministry. She is coming from Friendswood UMC where she is Assistant Minister of Music. Laurie is very excited about joining the staff at Strawbridge.

Born in Cincinnati Ohio and reared in St. Louis, Laurie got to Texas as fast as she could! She and her husband Jim moved to Friendswood in 1990 so he could join the Boeing team working on the International Space Station. They have two adult children. Their daughter is married, has two handsome sons, with a third child on the way and lives in Edmond, Oklahoma. Their son is married, has two beautiful daughters and lives close by in Pearland. Laurie and Jim love spending time with them.
