Todd Jordan
Greetings:

Isaiah foretold that, "...those who have walked in darkness have seen a great light." But before they did, a few dreamers began to live as if it had already happened. Who were these harbingers of hope,

and what drove them to dare to dream such a thing? Join me this Sunday as we hear from Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, and Simeon and Anna from Luke 2 and get lost in their Dreams of the Future.

                       Dr. Todd Jordan,

                       Senior Pastor

Online Shopping

Lots of online retailers will give a percentage of your purchase to Strawbridge UMC through the UMCmarket!   All you need to do is visit www.umcmarket.org and register. Specify the church, "Kingwood Strawbridge".  Then when you're ready to buy, just log into your UMCmarket account and shop at any of the partner retailers and, a percentage of the sale is given to the church. We need $100 in the account before we get a check, so the more the site is used the more the church benefits.

Shopping has never been so easy and you don't have to leave home, fight the crowds or find that perfect parking spot!

Sign up today at www.umcmarket.org.

Upcoming Ladies Event

Men of Strawbridge -

Are you looking for the perfect gift for the wife, (mother, sister, aunt, daughter, grandmother, or granddaughter) that is hard to please or already has everything?

Why not give her the gift of the 2015 Women's Retreat?

For only $195.00, she will enjoy a weekend away with other women getting to know each other and God better in a relaxing countryside setting near Brenham the weekend of February 20 - 22, 2015.

Please consider this option when thinking about what material "things" you can buy her. This gift will last forever.

Registration forms can be found in the church hallway off of the Narthex. Deadline to sign up is January 9, 2015. Questions? Contact Cheryl Burnett at 281-360-5127 or cheryldburnett@hotmail.com

Men's Bible Study

LED BY JERRY RAYMOND

ROOM 212

BEING TRANSFORMED BY GOD'S TRUTHS

JANUARY 2015

The Men's Bible Study is using the Adult Bible Studies series as a study guide, and this fall season we have been reading from the Old Testament Books of Jeremiah, Habakkuk, Job and Ezekiel.

Our lessons this past month have taught us that when God enters our life we can face his challenges with courage, and take actions that will become blessings to the world around us.

We reminded ourselves of stories such as the "nothing but net" campaign that brought mosquito nets to many locations in the world.

We discussed a young child's encounter with Jesus as portrayed in the movie Heaven Is for Real; and studied the fascinating portrait of Jesus as painted by an 8 year old girl, which was part of the movie's focus.

If you have not found a "niche" here at Strawbridge, drop by the Men's Bible Study in room 212 on Sunday mornings at 10:05.

Take time this season to count your blessings, and to watch for "something new" to come your way as God reaches out, to write peace on your heart.

Blessings,

Jim Matuschak
