Todd Jordan
Greetings:

In Matthew 16:13-20 Jesus engages his disciples in a conversation regarding his identity. "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" he asks. After various responses, Jesus pushes the envelope a bit. "Yes, but who do you say that I am?" Now that's a question. Not so much about the answer as it is about how it affects the one who gives the answer. What does it mean for your life if Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God? What does it mean to LIVE God's word? Join me this Sunday in worship as we examine this life-transforming conversation Jesus engages us in.

Church Needs from Volunteers

Intercessory Prayer Group

If you or someone you know needs prayer, contact the church office. If you would like to participate in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, please contact Cynthia Nielsen at

[email protected].

Remember folding your hands together as a kid and saying...

  •  Here is the church
  •  Here is the steeple
  •  Open the doors
  •  And see all the people

Well did you know that there is a group of dedicated volunteers called the Sextons who open and close doors each Sunday? It's pretty simple service really, and we could use another person in our closing group to help us with this necessary and honorable task. We are currently a group of about 8 persons who serve once per month in either the opening or the closing of our facility. If this is an area of service that you would like to assist us with, please contact Chuck Rollo at [email protected]

Worship Team is a fun, easy and exciting place to serve. We are in need of Communion Servers, Sanctuary Set Up or Clean Up, Decorators and Special Services Team. If you would like to help with any of these areas contact Katie Marvin at [email protected].

Member Care Needs You:

This group provides a central point of communication for the needs of our members and serves as a liaison between our pastors and the members of our various small groups. There are many opportunities to serve with the Member Care Team.   Come find your place on this ministry team! If you have questions or would like to volunteer contact Mary Sue Lewis at 281-361-7109 (home) or 281-728-4399 (cell).

Strawbridge Family Photo Album and Directory

Dear SUMC Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We began taking pictures for our new "Strawbridge Family Photo Album & Directory" on Sunday, September 21, and will continue until Sunday, October 26. If it's determined that additional dates are needed, we will be happy to add them.

We are going to do things differently from the way they were done in the past: no appointment needed, no lengthy wait in line, no having to get all dressed up (unless you want to), no formal poses, and no being pressured to buy anything.

We are going to do this in-house, with volunteer photographers stationed in the Narthex before and after the Traditional service, during Sunday school, and before and after the Contemporary service.

All you need to do is check in at the table, look over your contact information and make sure everything is correct, and then smile for the camera! The whole process shouldn't take more than three minutes of your time.

The allotted times are as follows:

8:15 - 9:00 AM (before early service)

10:10 - 11:10 AM (during Sunday school & before late service)

12:15 - 1:00 PM (after late service)

If these dates and times won't work for you and your family, you can certainly submit your own photo. We hope to get as many families as possible included in our photo album. Sunday school teachers and Small Group leaders will also be asked to submit photos of their classes and groups if they would like to.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me by email or phone:
