This week we welcome Reverend Emily Bankston! We are so excited to have her with us and we look forward to all that comes with new beginnings. Also, if you would like to know more about being a Methodist and what that entails here at Strawbridge, join me in my office for our newest Methodism Class this coming Sunday during the Sunday school hour.  I also invite you to either of our services where my sermon focus this week will be Luke 24:13-35, I'll See It, When I Believe It!

Short-Term Study

"What's So Amazing About Grace?"

Following the 3 Simple Rules to do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God requires lots of Grace. This discussion based class will challenge us to look at the radical and life-changing ways that Grace finds us, and the way that its power can change our lives and the life of the church. New Daytime Summer Study

 

Do you have questions about God, questions about Jesus Christ, questions about the Bible?

If God is all loving and all powerful, why do people suffer?

Isn't the Bible full of contradictions? Why are there so many different interpretations?

Beginning Tuesday, June 10th at 10:00 am join us in the library for a class to discuss "Letters From A Skeptic: A son wrestles with his father's questions about Christianity" by Dr. Gregory A. Boyd.

Welcome- Rev. Emily Bankston
New Children's Minister

 

We want to welcome Rev. Emily Bankston to our Strawbridge family and staff. She became Strawbridge UMC's Children's Minister as of May 1, 2014.

 

Rev. Bankston grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas. Emily earned her masters in Christian education from Garrett Theological Seminary and was commissioned as a Deacon in the LA UMC Conference in June 2013. Emily has one dog, Reilly, and enjoys shopping, fishing, and sports of all kinds, especially golf and basketball. She also loves missions - especially in Haiti.

 

We will forge ahead with great expectation and wonderment in the coming weeks as Rev. Bankston settles in and begins her new venture with our Strawbridge family and our children's ministry.

All Youth Mission Car Wash

Saturday, May 3rd, 10-2 pm @ Town Center

 

Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your family to come and get their cars washed!

 

Funds support the AYM 2014 Mission trip to Ft. Worth this June.

Vacation Bible School          June 23-27

                        

                           We'll explore the world of Weird

                   Animals and discover Jesus' love is one-of-a kind.

  •  9:30 am - 12:00 pm
  •  Vacation Bible School is for children ages 3 yr (as of 9/1/13) through completed 5th graders.
  • Cost: $5 per child (includes t-shirt and Friday Lunch)

Methodism Class
Methodist Cross and Flame Please join our Pastors for our next Methodism Class in Pastor Todd's office to learn more about who we are, what we believe, and what we do.  Everyone is welcome, but this class will be especially beneficial for guests and newer members.  Our next class will begin on May 4th for four Sundays during the Sunday school hour.
