We have so much going on this week here at Strawbridge.  Our Spring Mission Offering is in full swing, which benefits local and international mission partners.  There is a New Young Adult class beginning on Sunday, morning in the SAC.  The summer list of Children's and Youth events are available online and here at the church.  I just can't tell you how excited I am to be a part of Strawbridge!  Along with that excitement, my sermon focus this week is John 20:19-31, He Is Risen Indeed!

Short-Term Study

"What's So Amazing About Grace?"

Following the 3 Simple Rules to do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God requires lots of Grace. This discussion based class will challenge us to look at the radical and life-changing ways that Grace finds us, and the way that its power can change our lives and the life of the church. New Daytime Summer Study

 

Do you have questions about God, questions about Jesus Christ, questions about the Bible?

If God is all loving and all powerful, why do people suffer?

Isn't the Bible full of contradictions? Why are there so many different interpretations?

Beginning Tuesday, June 10th at 10:00 am join us in the library for a class to discuss "Letters From A Skeptic: A son wrestles with his father's questions about Christianity" by Dr. Gregory A. Boyd.

Introducing Rev. Emily Bankston
New Children's Minister

Rev. Emily Bankston will become Strawbridge UMC's Children's Minister effective May 1, 2014.

 

Rev. Bankston grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas. Emily earned her masters in Christian education from Garrett Theological Seminary and was commissioned as a Deacon in the LA UMC Conference in June 2013. Emily has one dog, Reilly, and enjoys shopping, fishing, and sports of all kinds, especially golf and basketball. She also loves missions - especially in Haiti.   


Vacation Bible School          June 23-27

                        

                           We'll explore the world of Weird

                   Animals and discover Jesus' love is one-of-a kind.

  •  9:30 am - 12:00 pm
  •  Vacation Bible School is for children ages 3 yr (as of 9/1/13) through completed 5th graders.
  • Cost: $5 per child (includes t-shirt and Friday Lunch)

Methodist Cross and Flame Please join our Pastors for our next Methodism Class in Pastor Todd's office to learn more about who we are, what we believe, and what we do.  Everyone is welcome, but this class will be especially beneficial for guests and newer members.  Our next class will begin on May 4th for four Sundays during the Sunday school hour.
