Memorial Day Hours
Since Memorial Day is on a Monday, and we're normally closed on Sundays & Mondays, it's business (or not-business) as usual for us.   However, starting on this Saturday, May 28th, we're switching to our summer hours.  Read on...

Summer Hours
It's that time again, where we move to our summer hours.  It's mostly going to be the same, except on Tuesdays we're opening couple of hours later than normal, and on Saturdays we're closing a couple of hours earlier than normal.

Starting this Saturday, May 28th, our hours are:
Tuesdays:  Noon - 9pm
Weds - Fridays:  10 - 6pm
Saturdays:  9 - 3pm

Enjoy your summer, but remember:  Garden by day and knit by night.
A Few Recent Posts on Facebook...

This week we're featuring a few small projects, perfect for warm-weather knitting.

Here's a soft, cotton, warm-weather accessory for you:  Secret Beach Diagonal Scarf knit by Gaby in 365 Cotone.  She knit the infinity scarf option.  Beautiful!

Posted April 28:
Tami used a pack of Wonderland March Hare mini skeins to whip up this cute Pickford Cowl.  Cushy, cute, and very easy to wear.

Posted May 4:
Tami's been at it again!  This time it's Demelza's Song, knit with Monte Donegal, a really nice merino/alpaca blend.  It took just 3 skeins, making it come in under $22 - what a great idea for a gift!

As if that wasn't enough from Tami, she also recently whipped these socks up using Regia Active.  Active is a great choice for warm (and cold) weather socks.  It's made with a special fiber that regulates temperature - you're feet won't be too hot or too cold.  Just right!

I thought I'd share (one of my) current WIP(s) today: It's Tranquilla, knit with Autumn Wind, a hand-dyed cotton/cashmere blend.  Mmmmmm.  I love what the stitch pattern does with hand dyed yarn.

Classes & Knit Alongs Coming Up Soon...

Here we're just highlighting a couple of classes that start next week.  For our current, complete class list and details, click here.  To register for classes:  stop in, send an email to [email protected], or call 763-795-9276.

Beginning Crochet

Learn the fundamental crochet stitches and crochet this easy scarf with chunky yarn in no time at all!  In the first part of the class, we will cover chaining, single and double crochet stitches used in this scarf, which measures approximately  6" wide by 48" long.  The second class covers the slip stitch, half double and treble crochet stitches as well as the foundation single crochet stitch, time permitting, as you work on a spa cloth.  Emphasis on how to keep edges straight and not increase or decrease.
Dates:  Tuesdays, May 31 - June 7
Time:  6:30 - 8:30
Cost:  $20 plus materials (patterns are included in class fee)
Materials:  For the scarf, about 200 yards of a chunky yarn - we recommend Malabrigo Mecha or Malabrigo Chunky;  Size K crochet hook; yarn needle.  For the spa cloth, you'll need about 70 yards of any worsted weight cotton yarn and a size G crochet hook - Cotton Twirl is recommended.  You'll also need two locking stitch markers.  Please choose a light color yarn to be able to see the stitches easily.
Craft:  Crochet

Kelly's Workshop is an ongoing workshop style class.  Jump in and out whenever you want, and only pay for the classes you attend.  You pick the project, we provide the support.  Even if you've never knit before, we can teach you.  Mitttens?  Socks?  Lace?  A sweater?  Learn how to fix those pesky mistakes or how to seam nicely.  Stitch what YOU want, but if you get stuck, don't worry, we're right there to help you.  This is a great option if you want to take a class with a friend, but you knit at different levels.  Come to just one class or come every week - your choice.  These workshops meet every week and have no end date.  You do not need to register, just show up!
When:
  Wednesday afternoons 4 - 6 pm  --or--  Thursday mornings, 10 - noon
Cost:  $5 per class session

Basic Socks Knit Along
We'll be knitting what I call "plain vanilla" socks.  Top down, one at a time, using double point needles, your choice of cuff length.  If you want them to go quickly, use a worsted weight yarn for warm, thick socks.  If you want thinner, wear-in-your-shoes socks, you can use fingering weight yarn - your choice!
Dates:  Thursdays, June 9 - 23 (3 weeks)
Time:  4:00 - 6:00
Cost:  Free, but we do ask that you purchase your materials at Double Ewe.
Materials:  Worsted weight - about 150 grams of yarn and size4 DPN's.  Fingering weight - 100 grams of yarn and size 1.5 DPN's.
Craft:  Knit

Come knit & crochet with us!  Work on whatever you want, no registration, no string attached, just show up.
Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 9
Friday afternoons, 1:30 - 5:30
And on most Saturdays, you'll find me knitting at the coffee table - come join me!

We gather these times each week, however if you find yourself with some time to kill, or you just want a little escape, stop on by anytime we're open and find a spot around the coffee table.

Please note:  Open knitting is not a class.  Although we're always happy to answer questions as time permits, sometimes it gets a bit hectic.  For more dedicated help, consider coming to one of Kelly's Workshops:  Wednesdays from 4-6, Thursdays from 10-12.  $5 per class.

Buh bye.
