Knit Alongs
I'm bringing back our Thursday Knit Alongs for the summer.  Yay!
A knit along (KAL for short) is when a group of people are working on the same project at the same time.  KAL's at Double Ewe are a little bit like classes, but more casual.  There's no fee to attend, but we do ask that you purchase your materials at Double Ewe.  I have a couple of projects in mind, but if you have an idea that you'd like to see as a KAL, let me know.  I'd love to have some company and an excuse to sit and knit on Thursday afternoons

KAL:  Happy Hoppin' Hat

We've got one week left on this KAL - it's not too late to get started!  Each year, in support of the Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop, Diane Augustin publishes a new "Happy Hoppin" pattern.  This year, it's a really cute hat knit in Malabrigo Rios with beads.  So fun!  If you haven't knitted with beads before, this is a fun intro to it.   These hats would make really cute gifts.  We'll run this knit along for two weeks - come to one or both.
Thursdays, April 28 & May 5
Time:  4:00 - 6:00

Materials:  One skein of Malabrigo Rios; one 20 gram bage of size 6/0 TOHO seed beads. You'll need size 7 & 8 16" circular needles as well as size 8 dpn's for the top of the hat.
Cost:  Free,
but we do ask that you purchase your materials at Double Ewe.

Market Bag KAL

I've been on a market bag kick!  There are tons of patterns for them out there, and I've selected four of them to make:  two knitted, two crocheted, in worsted, dk and fingering weight yarns.  I've had so  much fun with them, I thought it would be a great idea for a knit along.  The farmer's markets are goign to be starting soon - get ready!
Dates:  Thursdays, May 19 & 26
Time:  4:00 - 6:00
Cost:  Free, but we do ask that you purchase your materials at Double Ewe.
Materials:  Depends on the pattern choice - approximately 150 - 200 grams of cotton or cotton blend yarn with appropriate needles or hooks
Craft:  Knit or crochet

Basic Socks KAL
We'll be knitting what I call"plain vanilla" socks.  Top down, one at a time, using double point needles, your choice of cuff length.  If you want them to go quickly, use a worsted weight yarn for warm, thick socks.  If you want thinner, wear-in-your-shoes socks, you can use fingering weight yarn - your choice!
Dates:  Thursdays, June 9 - 23 (3 weeks)
Time:  4:00 - 6:00
Cost:  Free, but we do ask that you purchase your materials at Double Ewe.
Materials:  Worsted weight - about 150 grams of yarn and size4 DPN's.  Fingering weight - 100 grams of yarn and size 1.5 DPN's.
