Good day!
Are you easing into the new year like I am?  I can't believe it's already the 5th!   If you're looking for a new class schedule, I'm sorry.  It's not ready yet;  that's a part of my whole "easing into the new year".
What Have We Been Knitting?

Cute hat alert!  Tami knit this felted hat using two skeins of Bear Creek from Kraemer.  Super quick project:  she knit it in one night, and felted it the next night.    Pattern:  Felt Hat (AC1) from Fiber Trends, available through us or on Ravelry.

What do you get when you use a beautiful yarn plus a very simple pattern?  Something like this.  The pattern is called Plumas.  It's very simple; you just need to knit and purl, so it's really beginner-friendly.

I knit it with Knightsbridge from The Fiber Company, which made it a delight to knit.  Knightsbridge is a decadent blend of llama, merino & silk.  So, even though it was a simple pattern, I enjoyed every stitch.

These socks are the fourth pair I've knit since October.  If you've seen me working on them, you probably noticed that they're big.  And thick.  The pattern is Wisconsin Winter Socks from Cottage Creations - those booklets you may have seen in the shop.  It's my go-to pattern for my husband's cold feet.  They use 1 strand of worsted weight yarn held with 1 strand of sock yarn.  If these don't keep his feet warm, I'm not sure what will!

Very shortly before Christmas, the winter Top This sets arrived.  Emily couldn't wait to knit herself the Snowflake hat.  Cute, isn't it?

We still have a the popular animal Top This sets, as well as the winter themed ones (snowflake, snowman).  We also still have some of the Christmas themed sets (Santa, elf and star).  If you ran into a time-crunch this year, plan ahead.  Get 'em while you can.  :)

Every time I put these socks on, they just make me happy.  Such fun colors, especially during grey winter days.  I have a confession though:  They aren't new.  I knit them a couple of years ago, but they're still some of my favorite socks.  The yarn is Ty-Dy Socks Skinny Stripes from Knit One Crochet Too, and we recently stocked up with it.  All of the colors aren't so "Yaah!", but they're all nice.  Make your feet happy!

Learn About:  Dominance in Colorwork

Pattern:  Scandinavian Caps for the Guys by Cottage Creations
Yarn:  Ewe So Sporty
Are you in the mood for some knitting theory? Me too!

Earlier this month, I ran across an older blog post by Ysolda Teague, and she explains color dominance when knitting stranded colorwork (aka Fair Isle).  I've known for years that the color I want to "pop" should be held in my left hand, and the background color should be held in my right hand, but now I better understand why.    Check it out here:

Who's Who at Double Ewe:  Nancy Lindberg

Over the past weeks, we've introduced you to the gals that work at Double Ewe.  Now we thought it would be fun for you to learn a little bit more about the folks who teach here.

This week we're featuring Nancy Lindberg, who teaches on Thursday afternoons.  Nancy's line of knitting patterns (the blue ones) are available at Double Ewe and on Ravelry.

How long have you been knitting?
I learned to knit from my grandmother at age 19, and at that moment I knew I would have a job with crafts.  My first job was at Powers, and then I opened my store - Needle Point of View at age 23.  The rest is history.

Favorite craft?
Knitting is my passion and I love to teach it.

Favorite knitting items and technique?
I usually have a sweater or hat on my needles.  Patterns with color designs are my favorite.  I  knit for myself - can't have too many sweaters, and for my Grandchildren.

Tell us more about yourself!
I share my life with my husband Eric.  I have two married sons, each with two children.  My grandchildren, Elin (4), Hans (3), Svea (2), and Britta (1), are so much fun and will be years of knitting projects for me.
