Fresh Off the Needles & Hooks!

Tracy recently finished this super cool dragon. (Actually, she finished two of them, but we got to just see one in person.  They're huge!)  Such a cool project.  The pattern, Guardian the Dragon, is available on Ravelry, but Tracy warns you, it's definitely for advanced crocheters only; there were some tricky parts she had to figure out.  But it's so cool!

Speaking of crochet, here's a scarf I recently made.  The pattern is called Crochet a la Brioche, and also is available on Ravelry.  This one is fairly simple and straightforward - a fun project all around.  I used the lovely Arequipa worsted, a blend of merino wool and silk.  I used literally every single inch of two skeins - I had just enough to squeak out the tassels.

And this is the Double Up Moebius that Diane knitted up for us.  It uses just 100 grams of a worsted weight yarn and 2 skeins of Caribou - a super soft, furry yarn.  The yarns are held double and it's worked on a larger needle, so it goes quickly.  For our sample she used Encore Dynamo, but really any worsted weight yarn works well.  The pattern's available on Ravelry, and it's a freebie!  Thanks, Diane!

Who's Who at Double Ewe:  Gaby
Favorite craft?
Knitting is my favorite craft.  I used to crochet a long time ago, but not sure I can remember how anymore.

How long have you been knitting or crocheting?
I learned to knit in 1980, but have been seriously knitting for the last 20 years.

Favorite items to knit?
I like knitting anything, as long as it doesn't require seaming.  I also like to do test knits because it gives me an opportunity to try something new and it's great for the analytical part of me.

Tell us about your family - spouse, kids, grandkids, pets?
I have a great husband, son and soon to be daughter.

What about past jobs? I used to punch holes out of Cheerios.  Ask me about it if you want to know more.  :)
Favorite other non-fiber activities?
I like to read, travel and open-wheel racing.

Ravelry?   My Ravelry id is Sondomn.  I try to keep it fairly updated.  Take a peek!

Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 9:00
Friday afternoons, 1:30 - 5:30
Saturdays, starting at 9am, and restarting around 3pm

We gather these three time each week, however if you find yourself with some time to kill, or you just want a little escape, stop on by anytime we're open and find a spot around the coffee table.

Please note:  Open knitting is not a class.  Although we're always happy to answer questions as time permits, sometimes it gets a bit hectic.  For more dedicated help, consider coming to one of Kelly's Workshops:  Wednesdays from 4-6, Thursdays from 10-12.  $5 per class.

Buh bye.
