WWKIP Day!

This Saturday, June 13, is World Wide Knit in Public Day!  This is a day that knitters & crocheters around the world get out and play with yarn in public...right out there where non-yarnies can see them and everything!

Join us for the fun!  There will be snacks, fiber fellowship, and like in the past, prizes!  (No need to be present to win.)

What: We'll be knitting on the sidewalk in front of the shop.   If it rains, we'll knit in the shop.

When:  Saturday, June 13, 9 am - 4 pm
Where:  At Double Ewe,  9205 Lexington Ave N, Circle Pines
What to bring:  Your lawn chair, your project (or not...we can set you up with a fresh project!).
Bring a snack to share if you like, but please don't feel obligated...we'll be providing snackies and beverages.

So, that's it in a nutshell.  Come join us!

WWKIP Day 2012

New Stuff
I've been ordering scads of new yarn for fall, but you have to wait to hear about them.  Sorry...it's just not time yet.  ;) However, we recently got a new yarn in that I didn't want to wait for:

Dreambaby DK Paintpot

New from Plymouth Yarn, this is a sweet yarn for kids and babies.  It's very soft, easy care, and self-patterning.  Fun stuff!   One thing I really like about it is that there are just as many colorways appropriate for boys as there are girls.
They've put out four patterns, but it would work with so  many others!

UPCOMING CLASSES & KAL'S

I recently updated the class schedule with the scoop on a couple more of Diane's classes.  See our updated Summer Schedule for the scoop.
  • Kelly's Workshop:  Knitter's Choice - an inexpensive drop-in style class where you can learn new techniques in knit or crochet, learn with friends, or get unstuck on a project.  Just about anything goes:  it's your choice.  This will continue all summer long
  • Knit Alongs: Colorwork hats, Grazing Sheep project bag, and Fixing Mistakes
  • Summer Evenings with Diane:  Granny Squares, Easy Beaded Scarf, Spiral Stars Cowl, The Fibonacci Cowl, Happy Hopping Hands.

This Month on Facebook
While I try not to clutter your inbox and send this newsletter just once a month, I do post things to the Double Ewe Facebook page quite often.  I understand that many of you prefer not do use Facebook, so I'll share a few of the posts from the last month.

I was just poking around on Ravelry this afternoon, checking out Tami's projects - she's such a prolific knitter!  I realized I never shared this one, knit out of one of our favorite newer yarns, Fiora from Berroco.  It's a really cute top, and the lacy part can be worn in the front or the back.

I think I need to  knit this - and I know exactly which colorway of KnitCol I'm going to use.  Diane is offering the pattern for free until June 14th - you might want to snap it up!

Finished!  I really like how it transitions from the darker to the lighter color.  We've got a class scheduled for this one on Tuesday, July 21.   See our Summer Class Schedule for details.  Fun pattern, gorgeous yarn.
Pattern:  The Fibonacci Cowl by Diane Augustin
Yarn:  Panda Pearl from Crystal Palace Yarn

Beads!  You may have noticed a few beaded samples in the shop recently, so we've decided to save you a trip and start carrying some beads.  These are TOHO 6/0 seed beads - they're the good kind...uniform, smooth holes that won't reuin your yarn.  Pretty.

Isn't this pretty?  It's crocheted with Mecha (from Malabrigo, so, yum), and I used Diane Augustine's pattern that she teaches in beginning crochet classes.  Such a pretty, fun stitch pattern, and talk about quick!

Hanging Out at Double Ewe

Join us for a fun social time while working on whatever you want.  No registration required, no strings attached, just show up.  We have three times set up for you to join us:

  • Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 9:00
  • Friday afternoons, 1:30 - 5:30
  • Saturdays, starting at 9:00am
We gather three times each week, however if you find yourself with some time to kill, or just want a little escape, stop on by anytime we're open and find a spot around the coffee table; enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and relax a while.

Please note:  Open Knitting is not a class.  Although I'm always happy to answer questions as time permits, sometimes it gets a bit hectic.  For dedicated help, consider coming to one of our Knitter's Choice classes.

That's all for now, folks!  Once again, I'd like to thank you all for supporting your local yarn shop.
