What the heck is Pi Day? Do you know Pi Day? Remember Math? Remember Pi? 3.14159265359? Well, Pi Day is March 14th - the 3.14 part of the number. And this year is a Very Special Pi Day: 3/14/15 - the first five digits of the number instead of just three.
My husband, has been celebrating Pi Day for years (he's kind of a math nerd, you know), and this year we decided to celebrate it even bigger. We're hoping that on Pi Day (Saturday) he brings us some special treats. Keep your fingers crossed!

New Stuff
Fiora from Berroco This might be my favorite of the new yarns for spring. Fiora is a DK weight blend of cotton, viscose, alpaca, nylon and just a touch of wool. Lots of different fibers! Cotton and Viscose are the main fibers, making it a breathable, comfortable choice for warmer-weather projects. Keep reading for the cowl I finished with it in Fresh Off the Needles.
Boboli Lace from Berroco This is a blend of wool, acrylic and Rayon, but despite it's name, don't look for it with the lace yarns; it's actually a very pretty variegated sport weight, and with 350 yards per ball, there are tons of projects you could do with just one or two balls.
Hand painted wood sheep, ladybug and owl stitch markers. Cute!
Modern Cotton from Berroco While Modern Cotton isn't a new-to-the-world yarn, it's brand new to Double Ewe, and just in time fro our warm up. It's a 60/40 blend of Pima Cotton and Modal Rayon in a worsted weight. A nice, smooth, classic yarn.
Santorini from Classic Elite Santorini is a blend of Rayon/Viscose and cotton in a tape structure, making it a nice choice for warm-weather wraps and scarves as well as garments. Scroll on down to Fresh Off the Needles to see a fabulous scarf made with it. Pretty, pretty stuff.
Clearly Organized 6" DPN Cases Keep your 6" double pointed needles organized and handy in this compact sturdy case. I love mine, and I carry sizes 0 - 11 neatly in my knitting bag.
Crystalettes Pins Because pretty.

Fresh Off The Needles
Yarn: Bravo Baby from Schachenmayr Notes: Knit by Tami, Helena is a very popular pattern from Knitty Summer 2008 - over 2800 projects on Ravelry! Many yarns work well for it, and Bravo Baby makes it a very economical gift. ----------

Pattern: Seafoam Waves Scarf Yarn: Santorini from Classic Elite, 2 balls Notes: I set out to knit up a scarf with a pattern from Classic Elite, and I thought I did. Until I was finished. It turns out I have trouble following a pattern... I think I tend to skim it, and my mind fills in the blanks; this isn't the first time this has happened recently, but like before, I'm very happy with the results. I've written up exactly what I did, and you can grab the pattern here:
----------
Yarn: Fiora from Berroco, 2 skeins Notes: This is sort of a lace sampler with four different stitch patterns. It starts with the easiest and progresses from there. We'll be offering a class on this cowl - if you've wanted to dabble in lace, this is a great place to start . We're having a class using this pattern in April - check out our latest class schedule for the details.
----------
Pattern: Savanna Yarn: Transitions from Done Roving Notes: So pretty! Transitions from Done Roving: Four coordinated hand dyed colorways in one glorious ball. We've got it available in nine colorways. The pattern is available on Ravelry or in the shop.

Hanging Out at Double Ewe
Join us for a fun social time while working on whatever you want. No registration required, no strings attached, just show up. We have three times set up for you to join us:
- Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 9:00
- Friday: all day
- Saturdays, starting at 9:00am
We gather three times each week, however if you find yourself with some time to kill, or just want a little escape, stop on by anytime we're open and find a spot around the coffee table; enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and relax a while.
Please note: Open Knitting is not a class. Although I'm always happy to answer questions as time permits, sometimes it gets a bit hectic. For dedicated help, consider coming to one of our Knitter's Choice classes.
