"Knitting may not, on the surface, seem relevant to engines that run the world, but at its essence, it is actually quite vital. For knitting, which can express so many emotions, most often expresses love. And when all else is lost, love is what most often stays with us."

New Stuff
Chalet from Classic Elite We finally have it! Chalet is a very popular yarn for a few good reasons. It's super soft with beautiful drape, and it's chainette construction makes it strong, yet light. It's a blend of alpaca and bamboo in natural, undyed colors. Once I get through my Christmas knitting, I'm going to dive into the Color Block Bias Wrap - it's gorgeous! And if you're not sure what you want to make with it, Ravelry has lots of ideas.
Double Ewe Bags These are very similar to the "vintage" Double Ewe bags some of you may have, but in new, fun colors. Zipper top, front & side pockets, and just $15.75. I love my new apple green bag.
Merino Worsted from Malabrigo This is the yarn that started the Malabrigo frenzy. Soft, single ply merino wool in gorgeous colors, just begging to be knit into a hat or a cowl, or maybe a scarf or a shawl. Gorgeous!
Churchmouse Patterns Churchmouse patterns are insanely popular for good reason - they're current yet classic, beautifully photographed, and have clear instructions. We started out carrying a selection of them, but this month I really oomphed that selection up, and we currently stock almost all of their patterns. Come take a look and round out your collection.
Interchangeable Needles This month, I added a few more choices for interchangeable needles: ChiaoGoo Spin, ChiaoGoo Twist, Karbonz, Marblz, hmmm, did I miss any? Oh, yes, the Hiya Limited Edition set. There are SO many choices for interchangeable needles, and everybody has their own preferences; it can be really confusing. So I thought I'd take a minute and make a little chart that shows you what the sets I carry have to offer. Hopefully it'll be helpful in your comparison shopping. Christmas is coming...I feel it's my duty to keep you informed. :)

Fresh Off The Needles
This is where I like to highlight some of our most recently finished projects.

Pattern: Shaelyn (available on Ravelry or in the shop) Yarn: Tui from Misti Alpaca - a 100% alpaca sport weight chainette. It's available in 8 undyed colors - I chose the browns, but shades of grey would be nice as well. With the yarn cost less than $30, it would make a thoughtful gift.
----------

Pattern: Gina Scarf (a free pattern on Ravelry)
Yarn: Gina from Plymouth Yarns
I saw this on Facebook, and I had to knit it. It uses just 3 skeins of Gina, it's quick to knit, and at under $20 it'd make another great gift. It's a fun, sort of addictive pattern. Be warned.
----------
Pattern: Easy Watchcap (a free pattern on Ravelry) Yarn: Gina Chunky Francis (the guy behind Double Ewe & my husband) wanted to get in on the action, so he whipped up this snazzy chapeau. It's a quick to knit pattern, and the yarn is just striking. Nice job!
----------

Pattern: Mukluk Slippers from Knitting Pure & Simple
Yarn: Lamb's Pride Bulky
Tami needed some new slippers, so she whipped these up. They're great slippers for the whole family, and you can make them with high tops or low tops. We like them so much, we're having a class on them in December. See the class schedule for the scoop.

This Month on Facebook
While I try not to clutter your inbox and send this newsletter just once a month, I do post things to the Double Ewe Facebook page quite often (link at the top left column of this email, if you'd like to follow us). I understand that many of you prefer not do use Facebook, so I'll share a few of the posts from the last month.
Posted on October 20: Out bumming around on our day off, we came upon some cool yarn graffiti. Makes me wish we had a bike rack by the shop! --at 50th and Bryant, Minneapolis
Posted on October 18: Nametags!
Know how sometimes you meet with a group of people, but you're not sure of their names, but you have something in common, and you chat and see them week after week, and you get to know them sometimes really well, but you still don't know their name? And at a certain point, it's really uncomfortable to ask? Carrie had a great idea and Bert helped put it together. Thanks you guys!
Posted on October 30: Throwback Thursday - February 2007, teaching Morgan to knit. She was about 5 at the time. This was in our first, teeny tiny location. (It's fun for me to peek through the door behind us and remember where it all started for Double Ewe.)
Posted on November 2: Elizabeth Zimmerman (my knitting hero) on November:

Hanging Out at Double Ewe
Join us for a fun social time while working on whatever you want. No registration required, no strings attached, just show up. We have three times set up for you to join us:
- Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 9:00
- Friday afternoons, 1:30 - 5:30
- Saturdays, starting at 9:00am
We gather three times each week, however if you find yourself with some time to kill, or just want a little escape, stop on by anytime we're open and find a spot around the coffee table; enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and relax a while.
Please note: Open Knitting is not a class. Although I'm always happy to answer questions as time permits, sometimes it gets a bit hectic. For dedicated help, consider coming to one of our Knitter's Choice classes.
