Grand Re-Opening Celebration

We've been open a month now, so we're overdue for a Grand Re-Opening Celebration. Knit In Public Day was always one of my favorite events at the old Double Ewe. Since we missed the last couple of them, I thought we'd do our Grand Re-Opening sort of like our old WWKIP Days, with a couple of tweeks. There are a bunch of components to it, so this might get a little bit long, but here's the scoop:
When: Saturday, August 13 from 9am - 5pm
Where: Inside and Outside Double Ewe
What: Shopping, snacking, knitting, laughing & prizes
Hang Out with Friendly Flock
Weather permitting, I'd love to bust outside onto the sidewalk. We need to be nice to my neighbor (the computer store), so we can't block his shop, but we can spread out from the front of my shop heading towards Lexington Avenue, and around to the front of the building too. Bring your lawn chairs, and let's sit & visit a while. You're welcome to hunker down inside the shop as well. We'll have water, coffee & tea available as usual, but we'll have snacks , too.
A Gift & Prizes
As in the past, we have some Double Ewe swag: a cute DE tape measure you'll get just for showing up (while supplies last). We're also going to have prize drawings as well. (No purchase necessary to enter.)

A Fun Fundraiser
On top of that, we've decided to do a fundraiser for our local food shelf. For a monetary donation to the food shelf, you'll take home a new Double Ewe cup. (Suggested donation is $5.) We'll be collecting donations in cash, or if you prefer we'll accept a check to The Centennial Community Food Shelf.
Saying Thanks
And finally, to say thank you for coming back to Double Ewe, you'll earn a $5 certificate for every $25 you spend. Spend $50, earn $10. Spend $75, earn $15. You get the idea. The certificates can be used just like cash starting September 16th through the end of the month. It's just our way of saying "Thanks, and c'mon back real soon!"
So, that's about it. Please come join us for a little while or all day if you want. I've been waiting a long time for this...so excited!

Yarn Tastings Are Back!
What is a yarn tasting? Think wine tasting, but there's no wine...there's yarn! Its a fun way to sample a bunch of yarns, find out what you like, maybe what you don't like, and maybe what you love! It's another excuse to enjoy the company of other knitters while testing out some of our new yarns.
You'll get samples of at 10 least yarns along with some other goodies. You'll snack, chat, and swatch. It's a really fun way to spend an evening! I've got several tastings planned, but seating is limited, so sign up soon. If you have a group of friends that would like to do a private tasting, give me a call (minimum of 6, maximum of 12).
When:
Friday, October 3
-or-
Wednesday, October 8
-or-
Thursday, October 16
Time: 7:00 - 9:00
Cost: $20
What to bring: Knitting needles; you'll be sampling yarns that can run from lace weight up to super chunky, so the suggested needles may range from size 1 to 13-ish. So, bring the needles you have, but don't worry if you don't have every size - there will be loaner needles available.
How to sign up: Seating is limited, so you need to register ahead of time by calling 763-795-9276, or you can stop by the shop. Payment in full guarantees your spot in the tasting - if you can't get to the shop before the event, you can hold your spot by calling with a credit card.

New Stuff
We've gotten a few new things in the shop since I last wrote you, so I'll share a few of them here.
The Chabot Kit (pronounced Sha-Bo) from Mango Moon

This really is a quick & easy project, it's just gorgeous. The kit includes the pattern plus two yarns: one is a soft, smooth yarn made of recycled fibers (mostly cotton, wool and poly). The other yarn has a strand of cotton hand tied with beads & stones spun into it. It comes in 8 beautiful colorways, and can be knit in two lengths/widths. In just an evening or two, you could have something very special.
Warm Kitty Blanket Kit from Mango Moon & Dale Garn
I'm a little over a week into working on my blanket, and I'm enjoying it so much! The kit includes a pattern, 8 balls of Dale Baby Ull in four coordinating colors, and a skein of Mango Moon Bumble Bee for a fun edging. It's available in 6 colorways. The pattern is sort of a combination of a log cabin and a mitered square design. This would be a very special blanket for a very special baby.
Merino Extra Fine 120 Color from Schachenmayr
This is a DK weight, 100% superwash merino wool available in 8 self-patterning colorways. It would be beautiful in the multi-directional scarf I've seen so many folks working on!
Heritage Sock Yarn from Cascade Yarns
A classic 75/25 Merino/Nylon blend in solid colors. Great for socks as well as other garments. Free patterns from Cascade here.
Ecological Wool and Eco + from Cascade Yarns

100% Peruvian Highland wool in ginormous 250 gram/478 yard skeins. This was one of my best sellers in the old shop, and we just had to bring it back again. Free patterns from Cascade here.
128 Superwash from Cascade Yarns

A chunky, 100% merino wool that's machine wash & dry was missing from my inventory, and I found it. Very soft with glowing colors, and Cascade offers some patterns for it here.
Swaddle from Cascade Yarns

Swaddle is a soft, chunky, machine washable and dryable yarn perfect for baby items. 100% polyester. Perfect for a quick baby blanket!
Cherub Baby from Cascade Yarns
Cherub Baby is a very practical, soft fingering weight yarn made of nylon and acrylic. Cascade offers a few free patterns here. However, if you're a fan of vintage patterns, this will work for most patterns that call for a "baby yarn". This is just a sampling of the colors: they range from traditional pastels to more vivid hues. Fun!
