News from Double Ewe

August 3, 2014

Well, we're finally ready.  After a couple months of construction, paint, wiring, cleaning,  decisions, building, achy muscles, more decisions, about a thousand trips to Home Depot, planning and a trial run, we're finally there. And I'm so glad.

We are opening on Tuesday, August 5th.  Yay!  I've been getting lots of questions, so I've answered them below...read on.

Where Are You Now?

Our address is 9205 Lexington Avenue North in Circle Pines.  We're on Lexington Avenue & Village Parkway, just south of Lake Drive.  If you're familiar with where we used to be, it's in the same building as before, but on the opposite end.  The building is sort of a zig-zag shape, and now we're on the end that is across the street from US Bank.  If you can't find us, feel free to give us a call, and we'll wave to you from the door.  763-795-9276.   Really, we've done it before, and we'll do it again.  :)

We have parking right in front of the shop and in the big lot where you used to park, as well as on the street - plenty of room!  The walkway in front of my shop does have a curb, so if you need to avoid curbs, I suggest you park by the accountant's office; it's just around the corner of the building, has no curb, and it'll bring you right to our door.

When Are You Open?

We'll be open Tuesday - Saturday, as we were in the past. At some time we may consider adding Sunday hours, but at this point, we're sticking with a schedule similar to what we had before:

Tuesday:  10am - 9pm

Wednesday - Friday:  10am - 6pm

Saturday:  9am - 5pm

When can we hang out?

Our new space is bigger than before, so we now have room to for a couple of sitting areas instead of just one.  So, that means you can pop in and knit or crochet a spell whenever we're open.

On the other hand, it's nice to have a set time to meet up with kindred spirits.  So, we will still have some set times for "open knitting & crocheting", and we won't schedule classes during these times:

Tuesday evenings 6:30 - 9:00

Friday afternoons 1:30 - 5:30

Saturdays, 9am to whenever.

I didn't put an end time on Saturday - we're going to play it by ear.  In the past, it ended at noon, but that always seemed too early, especially if you're not an early-riser. I'm open to having it all day, and if we have a Saturday class, we might just have people scootch over to the coffee table area.

What About Classes?

We've been focusing on just getting here...up and running .  So I don't have a class schedule figured out yet.  Sorry.  That's a whole 'nother project, so please be patient with me.  (Oh, and the website...it needs work too.  It's on the list, thanks for understanding!)

I think I mentioned earlier that Nancy Lindberg is going to be teaching here again.  I don't have the dates of time figured out quite yet, but I'll keep you posted on it.

Honestly, planning classes is one of the hardest parts of running a yarn shop.  Coming up with ideas is tricky, and finding enough people interested in the same thing at the same time when their schedules are open is very tricky too. So I'm toying around with some ideas that would make it go a little smoother this time around, but I'm just not there yet.  Please share with me what you're interested in, and I'll see what I can come up with.

Also, if you have a group of friends that would like to schedule a private class (one session, or multiple weeks), please just ask.  I'm always open to that!

That's all for now, folks.  I'm ready to jump on to this crazy ride again starting Tuesday, and I hope you'll join me!  Thanks for supporting your local yarn shop.
