Dear SGES Family,
We are so grateful for the widespread support for last week's Get-Away-Gig. It was a wonderful evening with current families, past parents, grandparents, founding families, and friends. The auction was extremely successful and we are so appreciative of the team that secured classroom masterpieces, teachers' items, gifts from local businesses, and trips given by school families. As we celebrated our 20th year, this year's leadership was made up of previous Gig chairs. Here are just a few involved in this year's direction:
Lindsay Boatright Suni Clements Alyson Dallas Miranda Dender Lynn Dunaway Laura Edwards
Emily King Tracy Mabbett
Lisa Moore Harriet Newton
Jannellen Rigg Nicole Walters
This past week, our varsity and middle school spring sports seasons began. The varsity golf team won its first varsity golf match against Oak Mountain Academy and Flint River Academy. Also, this week the girls' varsity tennis team won two of its three matches against Mills Springs Academy and Oak Mountain Academy. Our middle school tennis teams played twice this week and we have over twenty students playing on the tennis teams. We hope you can come out and watch these students soon.
Re-enrollment contracts are due back in today for current students. Re-enrollment has gone very well and we are ahead of previous years. If you have any questions about the contract or the enrollment process please contact me (

Several of our students are participating in the region literary competition today at West Georgia University in Carrollton. We have 8th and 9th graders who are competing in girls' trio, solo, spelling, and essay writing events. This is a new activity for us that we will extend into our 8-12th grade extra-curricular program.
We have a variety of students whose art work will be displayed for the next two months at the Lamar Arts Gallery in Barnesville. Today from 4:00 to 6:30 pm, is the opening reception for this show. We hope you can visit today or later during normal gallery times.
On Monday, March 21st at 5:30 pm, we are hosting a college planning seminar for our high school students and our high school alumni. An admission officer from Mercer University will be the keynote speaker.
Next week, our lower school and middle school students will participate in a variety of overnight class trips. These are excellent learning opportunities, and a great chance to build community among classmates.
We hope you can join us at the students' art show today,
Larry Collins
