Dear SGES Family,
Today was a "full day" of activities. We began the day by honoring Lower and Middle School students who earned all "A's" and all "A's and B's" the first quarter. In the afternoon, all of the students participated in our annual "costume parade" at the city park. It was a fun day with a lot of energy around campus.
Tonight, we will co-sponsor with the Milner Methodist Church a "trunk or treat." Families may come by and visit various cars and booths in the rear parking lot from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
Tomorrow our varsity cross country teams will compete in our first ever state level varsity event. The boys' team were GISA region 1-AA runner-ups and Milz Cain was an all-region runner. The students will run at Darton College in Albany; we know they all will do a great job tomorrow.
On Wednesday, SGES and Griffin First Methodist are co-sponsoring a performance of Peter and the Wolf. The evening features John Lawless, John Lemley, and Nicole Marane and begins at 6:30 pm on November 4
th. Dinner is also available at 5:45 pm and dinner reservations can be made through Erin Mulder (
emulder@sges.org).
Next week, we are ending our fall sports with the state cross country meet and beginning our winter sports with junior varsity basketball games in a pre-season tournament at LaGrange Academy on Thursday. The girls' team plays at 6:00 pm and the boys' game is at 7:00 pm.
This upcoming Friday, the 9th grade class will begin an ongoing fundraiser by selling biscuits on Friday mornings from 7:45 to 8:00 am in carpool. The biscuits will be from either Chick-Fil-A or McDonald's and will cost $2.50 each. This Friday, the biscuits will be from Chick-Fil-A.
Also this Friday (6th), students may donate $5.00 to Relay for Life and have a "dress down day."
The Parents' Association will meet next Friday, November 6th, immediately after Celebration Chapel.
Over the past few weeks, you should have received an annual report for last year. We are so grateful for another fabulous year of giving. Thank you for your support. We hope the lists are correct; if not, please let us know. We realized one source of information was published with incorrect information. The pie chart that displays the budgeted revenues was incorrect. The correct percentages are:
Tuition - 83% Get-Away-Gig - 7%
Annual Fund - 6% Fees - 2%
Foundations - 1% Fundraising - 1%
Enjoy the weekend,
Larry Collins
