Beta Club Inductees

A Word from Dr. Collins

Dear SGES Family,

This morning as part of our Celebration Chapel, we inducted our newest members into the Middle School Beta Club.  These students have earned a 3.7 or higher GPA at St. George's middle school.  We are very proud of these 7th graders:
                  Elizabeth Hammock
 Ansley Potter
                  Talbot Potter
                  Peter Rigg

Next Friday is our annual Blessing of the Animals.  Students may bring a pet for a special blessing by Rev. Nancy.  All animals must be EITHER be on a leash or in a cage, and unfortunately our animal friends may NOT go to class.  Students may "dress" down on Friday.

Tuesday, September 22nd is St. George's night at Chick-Fil-A Dwarf House in Griffin.  If possible, we hope you can stop by and enjoy the chicken.

On Tuesday, September 29th, we will host a St. George's Family Picnic.  We are hosting both cross country and volleyball that afternoon and at 5:45 pm we will have our annual fun run.  After the race at 6:00 pm, you can enjoy a meal together in the Grove.  This will be a great opportunity to socialize with friends and meet parents and students in other grades.  Please RSVP through FormStack, all meals are $3.50.

Grandparents and Grand Friends invitations went out last week, and we hope each child will have at least one grandparent or grand friend on Friday, October 9th.  We will have a continental breakfast from 8:00 to 9:00 am in Toland Gym and a program at 9:00 am.

Parents and friends are invited to St. George's first event in our Common Ground Speakers Series.  These events are designed for our parents, and the community, to discuss relevant topics in parenting.  Our first night will be led by Dimy Mixon, a marriage and family therapist, and a St. George's past parent.  Mrs. Mixon will discuss the culture of female friendships and how aggression looks differently with girls than with boys.  She will lead us in how to talk with our children about fostering healthy relationships with peers.

Have a great weekend,

Larry Collins
