A Word from Dr. Collins

Dear SGES Families,

This past week, several of our students made history at St. George's.  On Saturday, our middle school and varsity sporting clay teams competed in its inaugural event.  We appreciate these students leading the way in this new sport at St. George's.  Also this week, a few 9th grade students competed in our first varsity level team sporting event in the school's history.  Milz Cain, Gray Long, Henry McDaniel, and Sam Potter represented SGES in a varsity cross country meet and all four placed in the top six.  Sam Potter won the varsity race and Gray Long and Henry McDaniel finished 3rd and 6th respectively.  Milz Cain finished 4th in the girls' varsity race.

Thanks so much for your support of this year's magazine, fall flowers, and poinsettias sales.  This Wednesday, September 9th is the final turn in day.  In addition to turning in orders, you may go on-line at www.sges.org Form Stack to order fall flowers and poinsettias and www.gaschoolstore.com and enter St. George's school code 2490027 for magazines.  All orders are due by Wednesday, September 9th.

Our first Lunch and Learn speaker is Scott Votaw.  Mr. Votaw is the executive director of the Georgia Film Institute and will speak to our students on Wednesday, September 9th.  The program will begin at noon and lunch is available for $15.00.  Please make your reservations with Erin Mulder (emulder@sges.org).

Next week, we will ask our current parents to complete a short survey.  The feedback will assist in evaluating our strategic plan and outlining goals for the next few years.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend,

Larry Collins
