Tuesday's Convocation marked the beginning of our 20th year as a school. St. George's has been fortunate to serve so many families through the past years and we are excited about the occasion to celebrate the past. In addition, we are equally excited about our future. This year, we will take the opportunity to outline what our future looks like for our students and our school.
It was great to have the students back on campus, and they have gotten right back in the swing of the school year. The week was highlighted by both a middle school and high school retreat. The middle school students spent the day at Atlanta Rocks working on team building activities. The high school students spent two days in Blue Ridge and a day rafting the Ocoee River.
Next week, we have a full calendar. On Tuesday, August 18th, we have "Back to School" Eucharist and picture day. All students should wear his or her dress uniforms. Also on Tuesday, we will host our curriculum night for both Early Childhood (6:00 pm) and Lower School (6:45 pm). Parents should report to Billy's Chapel for a brief meeting and then spend a few minutes with their child's teacher.
On Thursday, August 20th, we will have our Middle School Parent Informational Meeting at 6:00 pm. We will discuss curriculum, class trips, athletics, and other pertinent information.
Also on Thursday, August 20th, we will begin our magazine, fall flower, and poinsettias sales. Information on the sales will be sent home on Thursday. We appreciate your consideration with these sales.
Friday, August 21st, after Celebration Chapel, we will host our first Parents' Association meeting. Then, immediately after the Parents' Association meeting, we will have a time for new families to address any questions they may have.
We will offer after school programs again this year, and please make sure to sign up for soccer by this Monday, August 17th by 4:00 pm.
We will host our first volleyball matches of the year next Tuesday, August 18th at 4:30 pm. The Middle school will play at 4:30 pm and then the junior varsity will play at 5:30 pm.
Please let us know if you have any questions about upcoming events. I hope your family had a great week, and you enjoy the weekend.
