Camp Blaze

A Word from Dr. Collins

Dear SGES Families,

We hope your summer is off to a good start.  Camp Blaze began this week and there is still time to enroll.  Please go to www.sges.org under Form Stack to register.

During Honors Day, we recognized Mrs. Tracey Muise with the Founders Award.  The Founders Award is given to one member of the faculty or staff that demonstrates the qualities of why St. George's was founded such as academic excellence, leadership, and service.  Mrs. Muise has been leading SGES for years by setting a tremendous example for all to follow.  Her former students routinely talk about how prepared they are for high school science and other classes because of their experiences in her classroom.

We are happy to announce that Emily Brown will join our staff next year.  Mrs. Brown will serve as a long term substitute during Mrs. Shannon Doughtie's maternity leave.  Mrs. Brown currently teaches at First United Methodist in Griffin's preschool and has six years of other teaching experience.  She holds a master's in education as well as course work in Gifted students, technology, and library science.

Enrollment for next year is going very well.  We continue to have new families visit our campus.  Please consider families that you know who might be interested in St. George's.  You sharing your experiences with other parents will have a much more significant impact than any other marketing tool.  We do have some classes that have a waiting list but there is still time to register in most classes for the upcoming year.  Please let Susan Bartholomew (sbartholomew@sges.org) or me know if we can assist.

This week, we emailed a survey to our alumni to gather pertinent information.  This will assist in our planning as we improve our current programs and services as well as new initiatives.  If you are an alumnus or alumna and you did not receive an email with the link to the survey, please let me know (lcollins@sges.org).

This year's annual giving fund has been very successful.  We are less than $5,000 away from our year-end goal.  If you have not given to this year's annual fund, please give that some consideration.  If you are a current parent, we desperately need your support as we increase our participation rate.  The participation rate by our current parents is critical for us as we approach various external groups for financial support.  Thank you for your support and consideration.

Please remember all students moving into first grade or higher have a summer reading assignment.  Also, students going into the 3rd grade or higher have a math packet to complete over the summer as well.  These assignments are due the first week of school, and can be found at www.sges.org under the "Academic" tab.

Our summer office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
