A Word from Dr. Collins
Dear SGES Families,
It is a beautiful day to begin Spring Break. We hope your family enjoys the Easter weekend and time away from school next week. We will resume classes on Monday, April 13th. Due to Spring Break, we will celebrate
Easter Eucharist on Thursday, April 16th.
April will fly by with all of the activities during the month. Upon our return from Spring Break, Lower and Middle School students will take standardized testing
(ERBs, WRap writing test, and Stanford) beginning on Tuesday, April 14th. We encourage students to do their best work, but at the same time students should NOT feel overly pressured to perform on these standardized tests. Students may qualify for Duke University TIP program through these tests; however, they have no impact on students' grades or advancement. The school uses the results over a multi-year period to measure instruction and curriculum, not individual student achievement.
The week of April 20th Lower and Middle School students will participate in overnight trips to various destinations. These trips are traditionally wonderful learning experiences and great group bonding times.
We have had a good response to those interested in beginning competitive clay sporting targets team
at St. George's. Once we return from Spring Break, we will have more information available.
Our next Lunch and Learn is Wednesday, April 15
th at noon. Local beekeeper, Donnie Basilici, will lead the discussion for 4 th through 8th grade. If you are interested in joining us for lunch please RSVP to Jannellen Rigg (jrigg@sges.org). You may also bring your own lunch and join us for the seminar.
On Friday, April 17th, we will have our next House Competition. Students will compete in an "Easter" theme contest.
